Calcium and chloride function in oxygen evolution by photosystem II through bisubstrate enzyme kinetics and EPR spectroscopy of fluoride inhibition [PDF]
Photosystem II (PSII) is the light-harvesting water oxidase of thylakoid membranes. The catalytic center where oxygen forms in PSII is located at the manganese cluster, Mn4O5Ca, which is highly conserved throughout nature as seen in cyanobacteria and in ...

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Kinetics of lead interaction with human erythrocytes [PDF]
SummaryThe kinetics of the interaction of lead with human erythrocytes has been investigated in vitro by means of tracer studies with 203Pb. The elution characteristics of lead from erythrocytes in contact with EDTA suggest the existence of two binding sites differing in their affinity for lead.

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
