Munc13 mediates klotho-inhibitable diacylglycerol-stimulated exocytotic insertion of pre-docked TRPC6 vesicles.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
α-Klotho is a type 1 transmembrane protein that exhibits aging suppression function. The large amino-terminal extracellular domain of α-klotho is shed as soluble klotho (sKlotho) and functions as a circulating cardioprotective hormone.

The Saga of Endocrine FGFs

open access: yesCells, 2021
Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) are cell-signaling proteins with diverse functions in cell development, repair, and metabolism. The human FGF family consists of 22 structurally related members, which can be classified into three separate groups based on

The light and shadow of senescence and inflammation in cardiovascular pathology and regenerative medicine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Recent epidemiologic studies evidence a dramatic increase of cardiovascular diseases, especially associated with the aging of the world population. During aging, the progressive impairment of the cardiovascular functions results from the compromised ...

Olink Proteomics Analysis Reveals Heterogeneous Responses to FcRn Blockade in Anti‐AChR Antibody‐Positive Myasthenia Gravis: FGF‐19 as a Novel Biomarker

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to systematically observe the clinical manifestations, immune cell subsets, and dynamic changes in serological indicators in patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) before and after efgartigimod (EFG) treatment. Methods We analyzed the baseline data, laboratory parameters, and lymphocyte subset proportions in MG ...

Long noncoding RNA NEAT1 is involved in the protective effect of Klotho on renal tubular epithelial cells in diabetic kidney disease through the ERK1/2 signaling pathway

open access: yesExperimental and Molecular Medicine, 2020
Kidney disease: Effect of an anti-aging protein An anti-ageing protein called Klotho helps protect against kidney failure in mice and human cells by silencing a long non-coding RNA molecule.

A Simplified Three‐Tailed N‐Alkyl Phosphoramidate Lipid Platform Enables Inguinal Adipose‐Accumulated mRNA Delivery for Anti‐Obesity Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops an mRNA therapy encoding a long‐acting GLP‐1/FGF21 fusion protein. A three‐tailed ionizable lipid engineered three‐component lipid nanoparticle delivers the mRNA to inguinal adipose tissue. In obese mice, this targeted, dual‐hormone treatment potently reduces body weight, fat mass, presenting a localized strategy for metabolic ...

Klotho Protein Deficiency Leads to Overactivation of μ-Calpain [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2002
The klotho mouse is an animal model that prematurely shows phenotypes resembling human aging. Here we report that in homozygotes for the klotho mutation (kl(-/-)), alpha(II)-spectrin is highly cleaved, even before the occurrence of aging symptoms such as calcification and arteriosclerosis.

Identification and characterization of an inhibitory fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) molecule, up-regulated in an Apert Syndrome mouse model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
AS (Apert syndrome) is a congenital disease composed of skeletal, visceral and neural abnormalities, caused by dominant-acting mutations in FGFR2 [FGF (fibroblast growth factor) receptor 2].

Systemic Control of Bone Homeostasis by FGF23 Signaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The regulation of phosphate metabolism as an influence on bone homeostasis is profound. Recent advances in understanding the systemic control of Fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) has uncovered novel effectors of endocrine feedback loops for calcium ...
