Polarization Reversal in Ferroelectric KNO3
Journal of Applied Physics, 1967Ferroelectric potassium nitrate has been found, by a pulse-testing technique, to show a threshold electric field, essentially invariant with duration, below which KNO3 behaves as a completely elastic dielectric. Test results on several ferroelectric materials, all single crystals, are shown and compared to the results obtained from fused layers of KNO3.

Measurement of thermophysical properhes of KNO3
Thermochimica Acta, 1991Abstract The thermal properties, specific heat capacity Cp, thermal conductivity λ and thermal diffusivity a of KNO3 were measured in the temperature range 300–500 K. Specific heat capacity measurements indicate the presence of a structural phase transition from orthorhombic to rhombohedral at 408 K.

The phase diagram of KNO3–RbNO3
Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2012The phase diagram of the binary system KNO3–RbNO3 was studied using simultaneous direct and differential thermal analysis technique and differential scanning calorimetry. This system exhibits six invariants: a eutectic at 293 °C, four eutectoid reactions at 109, 157, 159, and 291 °C, respectively, and a peritectoid one at 288 °C.

The processes of molecular relaxation in binary crystalline systems KNO3–KClO4, KNO3–KNO2, and K2CO3–K2SO4 are studied via differential thermal analysis and Raman spectroscopy. It is found that the relaxation time of the vibrations ν1(A) of anions NO-3 and CO2-3 in systems KNO3–KClO4, KNO3–KNO2, and K2CO3–K2SO4 is less than that in KNO3 and K2CO3 ...

Phase Diagram of the NaNO2—KNO3 System in the 0 to 1 Molar Fraction Range of Concentrations of KNO3
Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2016The temperature dependence of the phase composition of KNO3—NaNO2 mixtures in the 0 to 1 molar fraction range of concentrations of KNO3 is investigated. A phase diagram of the KNO3—NaNO2 binary system in the range of concentrations from 0 to 1 molar fractions of KNO3 is drawn on the basis of DTA results.

Lattice dynamics of KNO3, LiNbO3 and KNbO3
Ferroelectrics, 1980We report results of quasi-harmonic lattice dynamical studies of KNO3, LiNbO3 and KNbO3. A rigid ion model (with charges and radii as parameters) is employed for calculation of phonon dispersion relation (PDR) in their non-cubic phases. External mode formalism is adopted for KNO3.

Thermobarometric study of KNO3 phase transitions
Thermochimica Acta, 1997Abstract In this work, a thermobarometric study of bulk KNO3 submitted to pressure less than 150 MPa has been performed by means of the Metabolemeter system. The effect of pressure on the transitions between the different phases I, II and III have been analysed. Endothermic transformation from II to I takes place through phase III.
