Marine microbial L-glutaminase: from pharmaceutical to food industry

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2021
Deamination of L-glutamine to glutamic acid with the concomitant release of ammonia by the activity of L-glutaminase (L-glutamine amidohydrolase EC 3.5.1.2) is a unique reaction that also finds potential applications in different sectors ranging from therapeutics to food industry.

l-glutaminase activity of soils

Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 1991
Abstract l -Glutaminase [ l -glutamine amidohydrolasc, EC 3.5.1.2] catalyzes the hydrolysis of l -glutamine to produce ammonia and l -glutamic acid. We have detected this enzyme in soils. A simple, precise, rapid and sensitive method to assay its activity is described, which involves determination of the NH+4 released by l -glutaminase activity ...

Recombinant production and characterization of L-glutaminase (glsA) as a promiscuity therapeutic enzyme

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2022
Because of the therapeutical impacts of hydrolytic enzymes in different diseases, in particular malignancies, we aimed to produce a recombinant putative L-glutaminase (GLS ASL-1) from a recently characterized halo-thermotolerant Bacillus sp. SL-1.

Purification and physicochemical properties of l-glutaminase from Pseudomonas

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1972
Abstract Crystalline l -glutaminase ( l -glutamine amidohydrolase, EC 3.5.1.2) was obtained from Pseudomonas and its homogeneity was confirmed by electrophoresis and ultracentrifugal analysis. The specific activity of the enzyme was 36 I.U. per mg of protein for l -glutaminase action and 15 I.U.

Factors affecting l-glutaminase activity in soils

Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 1991
Abstract l -Glutaminase activity in soil profile samples decreased with sample depth. The relationship between l -glutaminase activity and organic C. using the pooled data (33 samples) from five soil profiles, was highly correlated ( r = 0.92 ∗∗ ).

Extracellular L-glutaminase production by marine bacteria

Biotechnology Letters, 1992
Four species of bacteria which includedPseudomonasfluorescens,Vibriocholerae andVibriocosticola were observed to produce glutaminase both as extracellular and intracellular fractions. Comparatively both the fractions were higher in mineral media supplemented with 1% glutamine than in nutrient broth added with or without glutamine.
