Non-linear dependence of ion heat flux on plasma density at the L–H transition of JET NBI-heated deuterium–tritium plasmas

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Recent JET D–T campaigns opened the possibility of unique isotope studies to investigate the L–H transition physics in view of reactor plasmas and to study the origin of the observed power threshold minimum.

Spatiotemporal and Wavenumber Resolved Bicoherence at the Low to High Confinement Transition in the TJ-II Stellarator

open access: yes, 2013
Plasma turbulence is studied using Doppler reflectometry at the TJ-II stellarator. By scanning the tilt angle of the probing beam, different values of the perpendicular wave numbers are probed at the reflection layer. In this way, the interaction between

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Gravitational waves from phase transition in a supersymmetric left-right model

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We investigate the cosmological phase transition dynamics in a supersymmetric left-right symmetric model based on the gauge group SU(3) C × SU(2) L × SU(2) R × U(1) B−L that addresses the strong CP problem through extended parity symmetry and doublet ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

D-shaped configurations in FTU for testing liquid lithium limiter: Preliminary studies and experiments

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2017
The feasibility of getting “D” shaped plasma configurations in FTU, with a possible X point close to the first wall, has been investigated with the aim of achieving an H-mode regime in this machine.

Study of the second magnetization peak and the pinning behaviour in Ba(Fe$_{0.935}$Co$_{0.065}$)$_2$As$_2

open access: yes, 2017
Isothermal magnetic field dependence of magnetization and the magnetic relaxation measurements were performed for $H$$\parallel$c axis on single crystal of Ba(Fe$_{0.935}$Co$_{0.065}$)$_2$As$_2$ pnictide superconductor having $T_c$ = 21.7 K.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Off-equilibrium scaling behaviors driven by time-dependent external fields in three-dimensional O(N) vector models

open access: yes, 2016
We consider the dynamical off-equilibrium behavior of the three-dimensional O$(N)$ vector model in the presence of a slowly-varying time-dependent spatially-uniform magnetic field ${\bm H}(t) = h(t)\,{\bm e}$, where ${\bm e}$ is a $N$-dimensional ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
