Heating neutral beams for ITER: negative ion sources to tune fusion plasmas

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2017
Neutral beam injection (NBI) based on a negative ion source is one of the basic heating and current drive systems designed for ITER required to reach its goals of the operation with high fusion power, P _fus  ∼ 500 MW with fusion gain, Q  = 10 for 400 s ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Effects of Different Extraction Methods on the Composition and Properties of Jinggang Pomelo Peel Essential Oil

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
Taking Jinggang pomelo peel essential oil (JPPEO) as the research object, two methods of steam distillation and low-temperature continuous phase transition were used for extraction. Orthogonal test was used to study the effects of extraction temperature,

Synthesis, Characterisation and Antimicrobial Evaluation of a New Bis(semicarbazone) Ligand and Its Coordination Complexes [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة جامعة الانبار للعلوم الصرفة
This study aimed to synthesise a new multidentate bis(semicarbazone) ligand, (2Z,2'E)-2,2'-(((propane-1,3-diylbis(oxy))bis(2,1-phenylene))bis(methanylylidene))-bis(hydrazine-1-carboxamide) (H₂L), and to investigate its paramagnetic coordination compounds

A Topological Phase Transition in the Scheidegger Model of River Networks

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate the canonical Scheidegger Model of river network morphology for the case of convergent and divergent underlying topography, by embedding it on a cone.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Dimorphism of Trichosporon cutaneum and impact on its lipid production

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2019
Background Compared to the oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica, Trichosporon cutaneum can metabolize pentose sugars more efficiently, and in the meantime is more tolerant to inhibitors, which is suitable for lipid production from lignocellulosic biomass.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Determination of confinement regime boundaries via separatrix parameters on Alcator C-Mod based on a model for interchange-drift-Alfvén turbulence

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The separatrix operational space (SepOS) model (Eich and Manz 2021 Nucl. Fusion 61 086017) is shown to predict the L–H transition, the L-mode density limit, and the ideal magnetohydrodynamic ballooning limit in terms of separatrix parameters for a wide ...

Identification of H$_2$CCC as a diffuse interstellar band carrier

open access: yes, 2010
We present strong evidence that the broad, diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) at 4881 and 5450\,\AA are caused by the $B\,^1$B$_1$\,$\leftarrow$\,$X\,^1$A$_1$ transition of H$_2$CCC (l-C$_3$H$_2$).
