Preparation of a portable calorimetry kit and one-step spectrophotometric nanomolar level detection of l-Histidine in serum and urine samples using sebacic acid capped silver nanoparticles

open access: yesJournal of Science: Advanced Materials and Devices, 2021
This work describes the synthesis of sebacic acid capped silver nanoparticles (SA-AgNPs) by the wet chemical method for the detection of l-Histidine in blood serum and urine samples. The synthesized SA-AgNPs were characterized by several techniques.

L-histidine utilization in Aspergillus nidulans [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1982
Histidase activity rather than uptake of L-histidine is the limiting factor for the utilization of histidine as the sole nitrogen source for Aspergillus nidulans. Histidine cannot act as the sole carbon source, and evidence is presented indicating that this is attributable to an inability to convert histidine to L-glutamate in vivo.

Cyclic di-GMP mediates a histidine kinase/phosphatase switch by noncovalent domain cross-linking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Histidine kinases are key components of regulatory networks in bacteria. Although many of these enzymes are bifunctional, mediating both phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of downstream targets, the molecular details of this central regulatory switch ...

Histidine-Based Supramolecular Nanoassembly Exhibiting Dual Enzyme-Mimetic Functions: Altering the Tautomeric Preference of Histidine to Tailor Oxidative/Hydrolytic Catalysis

open access: yes, 2023
Challenges persist in replicating enzyme-like active sites with functional group arrangements in supramolecular catalysis. In this study, we present a supramolecular material comprising Fmoc-modified histidine and copper.

2-Fluoro-l-histidine

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
The title compound, C6H8FN3O2, an analog of histidine, shows a reduced side-chain pKa (ca 1). The title structure exhibits a shortening of the bond between the proximal ring N atom and the F-substituted ring C atom, indicating an increase in &#960 ...

L-Histidine Decarboxylase and Tourette's Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 2010
Tourette's syndrome is a common developmental neuropsychiatric disorder characterized by chronic motor and vocal tics. Despite a strong genetic contribution, inheritance is complex, and risk alleles have proven difficult to identify. Here, we describe an analysis of linkage in a two-generation pedigree leading to the identification of a rare functional

Dietary histidine supplementation prevents cataract development in adult Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L., in seawater [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The aim of the present study was to investigate the cataract preventive effect of dietary histidine regimes in adult Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) in seawater, both through manipulating the dietary histidine level and feeding period.

Evolution of substrate specificity in a recipient's enzyme following horizontal gene transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Despite the prominent role of horizontal gene transfer (HGT) in shaping bacterial metabolism, little is known about the impact of HGT on the evolution of enzyme function.
