L-type calcium channels and calcium channel ligands
1992Abstract L-type calcium channels possess high affinity drug binding domains for different chemical classes of calcium channel active drugs. Reversible binding experiments using radiolabeled and fluorescently labeled calcium antagonists revealed tight allosteric coupling between several distinct drug binding domains and divalent cation binding sites ...

L-Type Calcium Channel Recording
2006Calcium channels constitute a large family of voltageand ligand-operated ionchannels. They share several structural similarities with voltage-gated Naand K-channels. All three channel populations appear to originate from the same gene superfamily. Ca channels are ubiquitous, they can be found in almost any type of excitable and most unexcitable cells ...

An L-type Calcium Channel in Renal Epithelial Cells
Journal of Membrane Biology, 1996A voltage-activated Ca++ channel has been identified in the apical membranes of cultured rabbit proximal tubule cells using the patch-clamp technique. With 105 mm CaCl2 solution in the pipette and 180 NaAsp in the bath, the channel had a conductance of 10.4 +/- 1.0 pS (n = 8) in on-cell patches, and 9.8 +/- 1.1 pS (n = 8) in inside-out patches. In both

Stochastic simulation of calcium microdomains in the vicinity of an L-type calcium channel
European Biophysics Journal, 2009We study numerically the local dynamics of the intracellular calcium concentration in the vicinity of a voltage- and calcium-dependent plasma membrane L-type calcium channel. To account for the low number of Ca(2+) ions and buffer molecules present in sub-femtoliter volumes, we use an exact stochastic simulation algorithm including diffusion.

Both opioids and calcium channel blockers could affect hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis function. Nifedipine, as a calcium channel blocker, can attenuate the development of morphine dependence; however, the role of the HPA axis in this effect has not been elucidated.

Calcium homeostasis is critical for cardiac myocyte function and must be tightly regulated. In this study we test the hypothesis that a mobile carboxyl-terminal cleavage product (CCt) of the cardiac L-type calcium channel (Ca V 1.2) auto-regulates expression.

Calcium Signaling in Mast Cells: Focusing on L-Type Calcium Channels
2012Mast cells play central roles in adaptive and innate immunity. IgE-dependent stimulation of the high-affinity IgE receptor (FcεRI) results in rapid secretion of various proinflammatory chemical mediators and cytokines. All of the outputs depend to certain degrees on an increase in the intracellular Ca(2+) concentration, and influx of Ca(2+) from the ...
