Zur and zinc increase expression of E. coli ribosomal protein L31 through RNA-mediated repression of the repressor L31p. [PDF]
Abstract Bacteria can adapt in response to numerous stress conditions. One such stress condition is zinc depletion. The zinc-sensing transcription factor Zur regulates the way numerous bacterial species respond to severe changes in zinc availability.

Ribosomal protein L31 (RPL31) inhibits the proliferation and migration of gastric cancer cells
Gastric cancer (GC) is a digestive tract malignant tumor and causes the third cancer-related mortality in the world. Aberrant expression of Ribosomal Protein L31 (RPL31) has been reported in several human cancers. The aim of this study was to explore the

Multimorbidity prevalence and health outcome prediction: assessing the impact of lookback periods, disease count, and definition criteria in health administrative data at the population-based level [PDF]
Background Health administrative databases play a crucial role in population-level multimorbidity surveillance. Determining the appropriate retrospective or lookback period (LP) for observing prevalent and newly diagnosed diseases in administrative data ...

Characterization ofEscherichia coli50S ribosomal protein L31 [PDF]
The published C-terminal sequence of Escherichia coli 50S ribosomal protein L31, ellipsisRFNK (Brosius, J. (1978) Biochemistry 17, 501-508), differs from that predicted by the gene sequence, ellipsisRFNKRFNIPGSK (GenBank accession no. X78541). This discrepancy might be due to post-translational processing of the protein. To examine this possibility, we

HD3651B: the first directly imaged brown dwarf companion of an exoplanet host star [PDF]
In the course of our ongoing multiplicity study of exoplanet host stars we detected a faint companion located at ~43arcsec (480AU physical projected separation) north-west of its primary -- the exoplanet host star HD3651 at 11pc.

Ribosomal protein L31 in Escherichia coli contributes to ribosome subunit association and translation, whereas short L31 cleaved by protease 7 reduces both activities [PDF]
Ribosomes routinely prepared from Escherichia coli strain K12 contain intact (70 amino acids) and short (62 amino acids) forms of ribosomal protein L31. By contrast, ribosomes prepared from ompT mutant cells, which lack protease 7, contain only intact L31, suggesting that L31 is cleaved by protease 7 during ribosome preparation.
