Abstract Intraseasonal variability of ocean surface mixed layer temperature (MLT) in the tropics can be linked to the Madden–Julian Oscillation (MJO), the main source of intraseasonal atmospheric variability in the tropics. Here, we conduct a boreal winter mixed layer heat budget using 10‐day forecast composites of a coupled ocean–atmosphere Numerical ...

Novel experiments suppressing the diurnal cycle of sea‐surface temperatures (SSTs) in numerical weather prediction systems of the UK Met Office reveal that the presence of diurnal warm layers in the coupled ocean–atmosphere model speeds up the MJO propagation speed compared with the atmosphere‐only version of the model.

Abstract Inulin, a prebiotic utilized in the food and pharmaceutical industries, promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the colon, thereby enhancing human health. Although inulin is commercially produced from chicory and artichoke, Inula helenium roots offer a high potential for inulin production.

The HI absorption distance of HESS J1943+213 favours its extragalactic nature
The H.E.S.S. collaboration (Abramowski et al. 2011) dicovered a new TeV point-like source HESS J1943+213 in the Galactic plane and suggested three possible low-energy-band counterparts: a $\gamma$-ray binary, a pulsar wind nebula (PWN), or a BL Lacertae ...

Is NGC6752 hiding a double black hole binary in its core ? [PDF]
NGC6752 hosts in its halo PSR J1911-5958A, a newly discovered binary millisecond pulsar which is the most distant pulsar ever known from the core of a globular cluster.

Simulation of Dislocation in Cosserat Elastic Plates
In this article we present the numerical simulation of a dislocation incorporated into a Cosserat plate. The simulation is based on the mathematical model for bending of Cosserat elastic plates recently developed by the authors.

Let $\Lambda$ be a finite measure on the unit interval. A $\Lambda$-Fleming-Viot process is a probability measure valued Markov process which is dual to a coalescent with multiple collisions ($\Lambda$-coalescent) in analogy to the duality known for the ...

A search for high redshift clusters associated with radio galaxies at 2 < z < 4 [PDF]
High redshift radio galaxies are amongst the most massive galaxies in the early Universe and have properties expected from central galaxies in forming clusters.
