L-Band Photometry of L and T Dwarfs
We present K- and L-band photometry obtained with the Keck I telescope for a representative sample of L and T dwarfs. These observations were motivated in part by the dominant role water and methane play in shaping the flux near 2 and 3 microns and by the potential use of these bands as indicators of spectral class in the infrared.

News of Effective Temperatures of L Dwarfs [PDF]
In this work we report recent spectral analyses of L dwarfs and our success in measuring Teff and log(g). Using dust filled atmospheres for early L dwarfs and rained out atmospheres for late L dwarfs we could derive Teff of 1400 to 2000 K for L8 to M9.5 dwarfs respectively.

Subicular Astrocytes Govern Seizure‐Impaired Fear Memory
Astrocytes in dorsal subiculum act as a critical modulator of seizure‐associated cognitive dysfunction, operating through a Ca2+‐dependent adenosine‐linked astrocyte‐neuron signaling pathway that disrupts neuronal circuit homeostasis. This research highlights the potential of astrocyte‐targeted interventions as a therapeutic strategy, moving beyond the

Dust in the Photospheric Environment II. Effect on the Near Infrared Spectra of L and T Dwarfs
We report an attempt to interpret the spectra of L and T dwarfs with the use of the Unified Cloudy Model (UCM). For this purpose, we extend the grid of the UCMs to the cases of log g = 4.5 and 5.5.

Precision Editing of NLRS Improves Effector Recognition for Enhanced Disease Resistance
Precision engineering of plant NLR immune receptors enables rational design of enhanced pathogen resistance through mismatched pairing, domain swapping, and targeted mutagenesis. These approaches achieve multi‐fold expansion in recognition breadth while minimizing autoimmunity risks and fitness penalties.

Magnetic activity in ultracool dwarfs, as measured in X-rays and H$\alpha$, shows a steep decline after spectral type M7-M8. So far, no L dwarf has been detected in X-rays. In contrast, L dwarfs may have higher radio activity than M dwarfs.

A Trypsin‐Like Serine Protease ZmNAL1a Fine‐Tunes Maize Floral Transition and Flowering Time
This study identifies a trypsin‐like serine protease, ZmNAL1a, that moves from leaves to the shoot apical meristem. ZmNAL1a promotes the floral transition by degrading TOPLESS‐like corepressor REL2, which thereby enhances the expression of key flowering genes through elevating histone acetylation and relieving REL2–ZmEREBP147‐mediated transcriptional ...
