A Novel OsMPK6‐OsMADS47‐PPKL1/3 Module Controls Grain Shape and Yield in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
OsMADS47 is identified as a key regulator governing rice grain morphology. Phosphorylation‐dependent regulation of its activity directs the development of slender versus round grains, modulating both yield and appearance. This mechanism bridges cellular signaling with transcriptional regulation, establishing a molecular framework for grain optimization.

Comparing Grid Model Fitting Methodologies for Low-temperature Atmospheres: Markov Chain Monte Carlo versus Random Forest Retrieval

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The atmospheres of low-temperature stars, brown dwarfs, and exoplanets are challenging to model due to strong molecular features and complex gas and condensate chemistry.

Infrared Photometry of Late‐M, L, and T Dwarfs [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2002
We present ZJHKL'M' photometry of a sample of 58 late-M, L, and T dwarfs, most of which are identified from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and the Two Micron All-Sky Survey. Near-infrared spectra and spectral classifications for most of this sample are presented in a companion paper by Geballe et al.

Proton Acceleration with Relativistic Electromagnetic Shock

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
New Ion Acceleration Mechanism! A novel cosmic‐ray proton acceleration mechanism is proposed, where relativistic electromagnetic shocks accelerate protons transversely. Hamiltonian analysis yields a scaling law linking the proton energy to the minimum longitudinal thickness of the shock.

A Survey of Model Fits to Brown Dwarf Spectra Through the L–T Sequence

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We fit archival near-IR spectra of ∼300 brown dwarfs with atmosphere models from the Sonora and Phoenix groups. Using the parameters of the best-fit models as estimates for the physical properties of the brown dwarfs in our sample, we have performed a ...

A Dual‐Targeting T6SS DNase Drives Bacterial Antagonism and Eukaryotic Apoptosis via the cGAS‐STING‐TNF Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The bacterial Type VI secretion system (T6SS) emerges as a sophisticated virulence mechanism, leveraging the dual‐function effector TkeA from Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. TkeA concurrently damages rival bacteria and host cell DNA, triggering the host's cGAS‐STING‐TNF pathway and inducing apoptosis.

An Informed and Systematic Method to Identify Variable Mid-L Dwarfs

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Most brown dwarfs show some level of photometric or spectral variability. However, finding the most variable dwarfs more suited for a thorough variability monitoring campaign remained a challenge until a few years ago with the design of spectral indices ...

Purple dwarfs: New L subdwarfs from UKIDSS and SDSS

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
The first L subdwarf was a discovered only ten years ago. Less than ten L subdwarfs been published in the literature to date. Metal-poor ultracool atmospheres has not been well understood.
