Lactic acid and lactates

open access: yes, 2010
This review aims to integrate the present state of knowledge on lactate metabolism in human and mammalian physiology as far as it could be subject to nutritional interventions. An integrated view on the nutritional, metabolic and physiological aspects of

Necrotizing Fasciitis Within 72 hours After Presentation with Skin and Skin Structure Infection

open access: yesWestern Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2020
Introduction: A small percentage of patients with skin infections later develop necrotizing fasciitis (NF). Diagnostic testing is needed to identify patients with skin infections at low risk of NF who could be discharged from the emergency department (ED)

SOME OBSERVATIONS REGARDING RARE-EARTH LACTATES [PDF]

open access: yes, 1962
Lactates of all the rare earths except lanthanum, cerium, and praseodymium were prepared and studied. In the case of lanthanum, cerium, and praseodymium the laciates are apparently so soluble that they cannot be crystallized directly from aqueous ...

Surface Tensions of Alkyl Lactates with n‑Alkanols or Branched Alkanols

open access: yes, 2022
The surface behavior of 18 binary mixtures at T = 298.15 K and at atmospheric pressure (p = 0.1 MPa) was measured with a drop volume tensiometer. These mixtures are formed by alkyl lactates (methyl lactate and ethyl lactate) and alcohols (n-alkanols from

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
