Providing domperidone throughout lactation enhances sow lactation performance
Journal of Animal Science, 2021Abstract The goal of this project was to determine the effects of domperidone given throughout lactation on hormonal and metabolic status, lactational performance, and gene expression in mammary epithelial cells of sows. Second parity sows were divided in two treatment groups: 1) daily intramuscular injections with canola oil (Control ...

BACKGROUND Considering the high energy demand of lactation and the potential of guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) addition on the increase in creatine supply for cows, the study investigated the effects of 0, 0.3, 0.6 and 0.9 g kg-1 DM of GAA supplementation on

Lactation performance of exercising women
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1990To determine whether vigorous exercise affects lactation performance, we compared well-nourished exercising (n = 8) and sedentary (n = 8) women whose infants were 9-24 wk old and exclusively breast-fed. Measurements included resting metabolic rate (RMR); maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max); plasma prolactin, cortisol, insulin, and T3; and body ...

Abstract A serious difficulty in lactational studies on small laboratory animals is the lack of a satisfactory means of milking them and thus directly measuring their milk yields. At present, lactational performance in rats can only be inferred from litter growth and survival data determined under carefully standardized conditions ...

Effect of Methylxanthines on Lactational Performance of Rats
Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism, 1990Caffeine, theophylline and theobromine are commonly consumed methylxanthines. There are conflicting reports that methylxanthines may adversely affect the outcome of pregnancy. The effects of methylxanthines on lactational performance were investigated by administration of pure alkaloids via drinking water to Wistar albino rats throughout pregnancy and ...

Evaluation of lactational performance of Navajo women
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1981The effect of suboptimal maternal nutrition on lactational performance of 23 Navajo women was studied in terms of milk volume, milk composition, and infant growth. The mean milk volume produced by 10 Navajo women was 634 +/- 113 mg/24 h after approximately 1 month of lactation.

Study on lactation performance of Burmese mothers
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1980Quantity and proximate composition of breast milk from Burmese mothers of low socioeconomic group at three stages of lactation were studied. Protein content (total N X 6.38) of breast milk at 1 to 4 months of lactation was significantly higher than that of 7 to 12 months but there were no significant differences in milk fat, lactose, and energy among ...

EFFECT OF LACTATE CONSUMPTION ON EXERCISE PERFORMANCE.
Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 1995Maintenance of plasma glucose is important in endurance performance. Gluconeogenesis or carbohydrate ingestion maintain glucose after hepatic glycogen depletion. Lactate may also serve as a gluconeogenic precursor as well as a blood buffer. To determine if an 8% carbohydrate (CHO) sports drink with and without a 2% lactate (L) solution increased ...
