Lane pricing via decision-theoretic lane changing model of driver behavior
2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2015We propose a new macroscopic model of traffic flow that incorporates multiple lanes, multiple populations of drivers, and local decision theoretic lane changing behavior. We show that the resulting nonlinear system of PDEs is weakly hyperbolic. We then use this model and an adjoint method to design tolling schemes to improve traffic flow on a two lane ...

An algorithm of lane change using two-lane NaSch model in traffic networks
2013 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE), 2013Few researches focus on lane change decisions achieving space or time optimality. In order to improve traffic efficiency, this paper studies the lane change problem. The goal of the lane change problem is to reduce the additional road space before all vehicles change to their target lanes.

Inspired by the “emancipation” theory of trust, this paper proposes to develop driver's trust in assistance systems based on the assumption that driver's appropriate trust in these systems can be built, when the support of assistance systems is adapted to the drivers' uncertainty state and helps reducing their uncertainty.

Modeling Lane-Changing Decisions with MOBIL
2009We present the general model MOBIL (“Minimizing Overall Braking Induced by Lane Changes”) to derive lane-changing rules for a wide class of car-following models. Both the utility of a given lane and the risk associated with lane changes is determined in terms of longitudinal accelerations calculated with microscopic traffic models.

Analyzing cooperative lane change models for connected vehicles
2014 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE), 2014This paper examines intelligent lane change models based on the cooperation among connected vehicles for traffic management and travel time optimization. Lane change decisions and speed controls could be coordinated and optimized to reduce the overall braking and achieve greater traffic throughput.

A Second Order Traffic Flow Model with Lane Changing
Journal of Scientific Computing, 2019This paper concerns modeling and computation of traffic flow for a single in-lane flow as well as multilane flow with lane changing. We consider macroscopic partial differential equation models of two types: (i) First Order Models: equilibrium models, scalar models expressing car mass conservation; and (ii) Second Order Models: dynamic models, $$2 ...

A genetic fuzzy system for modeling mandatory lane changing
2012 15th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2012A Fuzzy Logic-based lane changing model was developed for mandatory lane changes at lane drops. Genetic Algorithm was used for optimizing the widths of membership functions. The Next Generation Simulation (NGSIM) dataset of vehicle trajectories was used for model development and validation.

A new lane changing model with inter-vehicle communication
2016 12th IEEE International Conference on Control and Automation (ICCA), 2016A new two-lane changing model with inter-vehicle communication based on intelligent transportation system for traffic flow is proposed. By taking the information of several front vehicles in both self-lane and objective lane into consideration, drivers can predict the velocity tendency of next time steps on both lanes, thus decide whether to change ...

Complex Lane Change Behavior in the Foresighted Driver Model
2015 IEEE 18th International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2015This paper presents a general model for lane-change decision and dynamic lane change behavior based on the Foresighted Driver Model. Differently to previous models, it does not rely on indirect features like gap lengths, TTC or decelerations, but it models the lane change process by explicitly calculating the involved risks and benefits of the ...
