Lane-Changing Decision Model for Heavy Vehicle Drivers
Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2011Lane-changing maneuvers of heavy vehicles have significant influence on surrounding traffic characteristics because of the physical effects that the heavy vehicles impose on surrounding vehicles. These effects are the result of heavy vehicles’ length, size, weight, and limitations in their maneuverability.

A model for the structure of lane-changing decisions
Transportation Research Part B: Methodological, 1986Abstract A structure is proposed to connect the decisions which a driver has to make before changing lanes. The model is intended to cover the urban driving situation, where traffic signals, obstructions and heavy vehicles all exert an influence.

Modeling lane-changing behavior in presence of exclusive lanes
2005Driving behavior is significantly affected by the presence of exclusive lanes. Particularly, unlimited access to exclusive lanes result significant amount of special type of lane-changing actions. The objective of this thesis is to develop an improved lane-changing model that has a generalized structure and is flexible enough to capture the lane ...

Anticipatory behavior in lane changing models
2006Actions performed by drivers in case of lane changing behavior are usually the result of some plan the driver has in mind. This involves anticipating future scenarios and persisting in order to execute the plan. The objective of this thesis is to develop a framework for modeling the lane-changing behavior that captures the anticipatory behavior of ...

Lane changing models for arterial traffic
2007Driving behavior models for lane-changing and acceleration form an integral component of microscopic traffic simulators and determine its value in evaluation of different traffic management strategies. The state-of-art model for lane changing adopts a two-level framework: the first level involves a latent or unobserved choice of a target lane; the ...
