Reverse Weak Polarity‐Induced Ordered Layer Control for Enhanced Second‐Harmonic Generation in Ultraviolet Nonlinear Optical Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Reverse Weak Polarity‐Induced Ordered Layer Control strategy, optimizing the design of layered structures, has been successfully designed. By leveraging inhomogeneous field of units to replace isotropic fields of metal cations, polar layers realize controllable layer stacking via a “layer→linker→layer” polarity transfer.

Triboluminescence of Centrosymmetric Lanthanide β-Diketonate Complexes with Aggregation-Induced Emission

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Triboluminescence (TL) is a form of light emission induced upon mechanical forces on the material. However, our understanding of this phenomenon is still unclear and more examples are therefore needed in order to elucidate its mechanism.

Tailored Synthesis of Doped Non‐Layered Oxide Nanosheets Using Designed Solid‐State Surfactants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work reports a solid‐state surfactant templating method that enables precise doping of non‐layered oxide nanosheets. Using ceria and rare‐earth elements as model systems, we established design principles for solid‐state surfactants containing multiple elements.

Lanthanide-Directed Fabrication of Four Tetranuclear Quadruple Stranded Helicates Showing Magnetic Refrigeration and Slow Magnetic Relaxation

open access: yes, 2016
A rare class of four tetranuclear lanthanide based quadruple stranded helicates namely, [Ln4L4(OH)2](OAc)2·xH2O (Ln = GdIII(1), DyIII(2) and x = 4, 5 respectively), [Er4L4(OH)2](NO3)2·9H2O (3), and [Dy4L4(NO3)](NO3)2·2CH3OH·H2O (4) were synthesized ...

Quantifying Magnetic Anisotropy of Ferroelectric Fe(II) Square‐Pyramidal Systems Using Torque Magnetometry

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Five‐coordinate, square‐pyramidal Fe(II) complexes adopting polar, non‐centrosymmetric crystal structures exhibit exceptionally large easy‐axis magnetic anisotropy. Ligand‐driven distortions critically control the anisotropy, and the dielectric, Polarization vs Elecric field and piezo response studies confirm intrinsic polarization, positioning these ...

Lanthanide Chlorides Decrease the Antioxidant Property of Human Serum Albumin

open access: yesOrbital: The Electronic Journal of Chemistry, 2017
Substantial conformational changes of human serum albumin, HSA, induced by Lanthanide chlorides (Ce3+, La3+, Er3+) in phosphate buffer, 10 mmol L-1 at pH 7.4, was studied by Isothermal Titration Calorimetry, ITC.

Rare‐Earth Mediated Engineering in ZnSe@ZnS:Eu3+ to Simultaneously Achieve Structural Modulation and Atomic Eu Doping Sites for X‐Ray Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A dual hard‐base anchoring strategy was developed to synthesize ZnSe@ZnS:Eu3+ quantum dots, leveraging fluoride‐oleylamine interactions to create surface atomic Eu doping sites. By precisely tuning temperature, Eu3+ concentration, and fluoride levels, we obtain morphologies ranging from tip growth to coupled flower‐like structures.

Facile dissociation of molecular nitrogen using lanthanide surfaces: towards ambient temperature ammonia synthesis

open access: yes, 2020
A combined experimental and computational study is reported on a hitherto unrecognised single lanthanide catalyst for the breaking of molecular nitrogen and formation of ammonia at ambient temperature and low pressure. We combine in situ electrical ...
