Fabrication and Performance of a Heterogeneous-Helical-Cladding Fiber
Large mode area (LMA) fibers are widely used in high power fiber lasers to solve the nonlinear problems. In this work, a Nd3+-doped phosphate glass LMA fiber with heterogeneous helical claddings (HHC) is fabricated successfully by rod in tube ...

Hybrid Ytterbium-doped large-mode-area photonic crystal fiber amplifier for long wavelengths. [PDF]
A large-mode-area Ytterbium-doped photonic crystal fiber amplifier with build-in gain shaping is presented. The fiber cladding consists of a hexagonal lattice of air holes, where three rows are replaced with circular high-index inclusions.

Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

A new design of a passive optical fiber waveguide with a large mode area (LMA) and strong stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) suppression is proposed. The fiber core consists of two parts: a central one, doped with Al2O3 and GeO2, and a peripheral one,

Efficient harmonic generation with large-mode-area fiber sources
We present the results of a series of experiments using doped fiber sources in which we have, to the best of our knowledge, demonstrated the highest ever pulse energies from a Q-switched fiber laser (180 /spl mu/J), the high second-harmonic conversion efficiency from a single pass in PPLN (periodically poled LiNbO/sub 3/) (83%), and the first ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

A Detailed Study of a Resonant-Assisted Segmented Cladding Fiber for Large Mode Area Applications
In this work, we have proposed and optimized a large mode area segmented cladding fiber (SCF) with an unconventional low-index segment cladding. The low-refractive-index cladding proposed in this paper consists of three parts.

Large mode area fibers with asymmetric bend compensation
Fibers with asymmetrical bend compensation offer to completely remove the tradeoff between mode area and single-modedness, with potentially huge impact on high-power amplification. These fibers would be difficult to fabricate, but are the only fundamental-mode strategy that can remove the bend-distortion limitations on mode-area scaling.

Large mode area fiber lasers and their applications [PDF]
The area of fiber lasers has undergone rapid developments in recent years. Gone are the days when fiber lasers were seen as something of an irrelevant curiosity, offering interesting performance features, but always with power levels or other performance limitations, that made them unsuitable for all but a few applications.
