A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Large neighborhood search for route and fleet optimization in frozen food distribution

open access: yesOPSI
This study develops an optimization model to enhance the distribution efficiency of a frozen food distributor. The company faces operational inefficiencies due to excessive fleet capacity and conventional route assignment methods, which increase travel ...

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

ANALISA PERBANDINGAN METODE SIMULATED ANNEALING DAN LARGE NEIGHBORHOOD SEARCH UNTUK MEMECAHKAN MASALAH LOKASI DAN RUTE KENDARAAN DUA ESELON

open access: yesJurnal Manajemen Industri dan Logistik, 2020
Two-echelon location routing problem (2E-LRP) is a problem that considers distribution problem in a two-level / echelon transport system. The first echelon considers trips from a main depot to a set of selected satellite.

Large neighborhood search for the bike request scheduling problem

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, 2019
AbstractThis paper introduces an efficient algorithm for the bike request scheduling problem (BRSP). The BRSP is built around the concept of request, defined as the pickup or dropoff of a number of identical items (bikes) at a specific station, within a certain time window, and with a certain priority.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

A Learning Large Neighborhood Search for the Staff Rerostering Problem

open access: yes, 2022
To effectively solve challenging staff rerostering problems, we propose to enhance a large neighborhood search (LNS) with a machine learning guided destroy operator. This operator uses a conditional generative model to identify variables that are promising to select and combines this with the use of a special sampling strategy to make the actual ...
