Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

A Heuristic Approach for a Real-World Electric Vehicle Routing Problem
To develop a non-polluting and sustainable city, urban administrators encourage logistics companies to use electric vehicles instead of conventional (i.e., fuel-based) vehicles for transportation services.

Large neighborhood search for the bike request scheduling problem
AbstractThis paper introduces an efficient algorithm for the bike request scheduling problem (BRSP). The BRSP is built around the concept of request, defined as the pickup or dropoff of a number of identical items (bikes) at a specific station, within a certain time window, and with a certain priority.

A Hybrid Solver for Large Neighborhood Search: Mixing Gecode and EasyLocal + + [PDF]
We present a hybrid solver (called $\mathbb{GELATO}$) that exploits the potentiality of a Constraint Programming (CP) environment (Gecode) and of a Local Search (LS) framework (EasyLocal + + ). $\mathbb{GELATO}$ allows to easily develop and use hybrid meta-heuristic combining CP and LS phases (in particular Large Neighborhood Search).

Solving Large p-median Problems by a Multistage Hybrid Approach Using Demand Points Aggregation and Variable Neighbourhood Search [PDF]
A hybridisation of a clustering-based technique and of a variable neighbourhood search (VNS) is designed to solve large-scale p-median problems. The approach is based on a multi-stage methodology where learning from previous stages is taken into ...

Evolution‐guided yeast complementation reveals functional differences in human PSPH variants
Ancient genomes can help guide which human genetic variants are tested experimentally. This study applies that idea to PSPH, a gene involved in serine biosynthesis, and uses high‐throughput yeast complementation to compare variant function. The findings reveal measurable differences among selected alleles and illustrate the value of evolution‐guided ...
