Performance of beef heifers supplemented with sodium lasalocid

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2016
This study was conducted on 78 13-month-old crossbred beef heifers that weighed 215 kg in Southern Rio Grande do Sul (RS) State, Brazil. We evaluated the performance of beef heifers that were reared in a pasture system that received a mineral supplement energy-type protein with added sodium lasalocid (LAS).

Effects of the accidental feeding of lasalocid sodium to broiler breeder chickens

Veterinary Record, 1993
Lasalocid sodium was accidentally introduced into the feed of several broiler breeder chicken farms at levels between 115 and 150 ppm. On one farm, leg weakness and ataxia were observed in a few cockerels. A reduction in egg production and a sharp decrease in fertility and hatchability were observed in all the flocks receiving the contaminated feed ...

Effect of lasalocid sodium on digestion in sheep

1983
Lasalocid, like other ionophore antibiotics (monensin), has been shown to bring on increased propionic acid production and reduced methane for-mation in the rumen3,13. These effects would be due to a selection of bacteria that produce succinate and which ferment lactate, and also to an inhibition of bacteria that produce acetate, butyrate, and lactate ...

Multinuclear NMR and FTIR studies of new polyoxaalkyl esters of lasalocid and their complexes with lithium and sodium cations

Biopolymers, 2002
AbstractThree new polyoxaalkyl esters of lasalocid are synthesized. Their ability to form complexes with Li+ and Na+ cations is studied using multinuclear NMR methods, FTIR spectroscopy in the middle and far IR regions, and mass spectrometry. It is found that lasalocid esters form only 1:1 complexes with the metal cations.

Evaluation of the efficacy of lasalocid sodium on the fattening of steers

1983
Lasalocid sodium (Bovatec®) is a polyether antibiotic produced by the fermentation of Streptomyces lasaliensis and is similar to monensin and salinomycin1-. It is used for the prevention of coccidiosis of broiler chicken (Avat5c®) and is also an effective coccidiostat in ruminants6-8.

Efficacy of lasalocid sodium against coccidiosis (Eimeria zuernii and Eimeria bovis) in calves

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1982
SUMMARY Calves experimentally infected with Eimeria bovis and E zuernii were used in a controlled experiment to determine the anticoccidial activity of lasalocid sodium. Eleven-weekold Holstein calves were given an inoculum of 300,000 E bovis and 200,000 E zuemii oocysts; medication was initiated on the day of inoculation and continued for a 4-week ...

High-Performance Liquid Chromatographic Determination of Lasalocid Sodium in Chicken Tissue

Journal of Liquid Chromatography and Related Technologies, 1990
Abstract A high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method with fluorometric detection has been developed to determine lasalocid sodium(Fig.1) residues in chicken tissues. Lasalocid sodium was extracted from tissues by homogenizing them with methanol, purified by silicagel cartridge column and separated by HPLC using an ODS column.

Monensin-Sodium and Lasalocid-Sodium as Growth Promoters for Grazing Young Beef Bulls

1984
The contribution to beef production in Belgium expressed in carcass weight amounted to 7.8% from steers, 34.0% from bulls, 34.1% from cows and 24.1% from heifers in 1982 (INS, 1983). Bull beef production is mostly practised in a semi-intensive system.

Effect of Lasalocid Sodium and Molasses on Performance of Fattening Lambs and on Rumen Liquor and Blood Parameters

Archiv für Tierernaehrung, 1989
Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of sugar beet molasses (0, 8 and 16%) with or without lasalocid sodium (33 ppm) on rumen liquor and blood parameters of sheep, and on fattening reared Karagouniko breed lambs. In Expt. 1 six adult Karagouniko fistulated wethers were fed six different pelleted diets.
