Bioinformatics and HIV Latency [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent HIV/AIDS Reports, 2015
Despite effective treatment, HIV is not completely eliminated from the infected organism because of the existence of viral reservoirs. A major reservoir consists of infected resting CD4+ T cells, mostly of memory type, that persist over time due to the stable proviral insertion and a long cellular lifespan.

Hybrid Parallel Compliance Allows Robots to Operate With Sensorimotor Delays and Low Control Frequencies

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI, 2021
Animals locomote robustly and agile, albeit significant sensorimotor delays of their nervous system and the harsh loading conditions resulting from repeated, high-frequent impacts.

Latency and Liquidity Risk [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2019
Latency (i.e. time delay) in electronic markets affects the efficacy of liquidity taking strategies. During the time liquidity, takers process information and send marketable limit orders (MLOs) to the exchange, the limit order book (LOB) might undergo updates, so there is no guarantee that MLOs are filled.

CounterAKTing HIV: Toward a “Block and Clear” Strategy?

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2022
The protein kinase B or Akt is a central regulator of survival, metabolism, growth and proliferation of the cells and is known to be targeted by various viral pathogens, including HIV-1.

Telejam: From Low Latency to No Latency

open access: yes, 2022
In this paper we describe Telejam, a novel web app for networked musical performance that connects players worldwide and allows them to play together in synchrony without regard to the time delays due to the distances between them.

Photography at a Standstill

open access: yesMedia Theory
What has replaced the still photograph are dynamic and distributed image-assemblages that unsettle received notions of space-time — no longer limited to traditional representation and not necessarily even visual.

A Mixed Integer Formulation and an NSGA-II for the Cumulative Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem With Priority Indexes

open access: yesIEEE Access
The aim of the paper presented herein is to propose a new mixed integer formulation and an efficient metaheuristic for the Biobjective Cumulative Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem that incorporates Priority Indexes, an extension of the classical ...

The RNA-Binding Proteins SRP14 and HMGB3 Control HIV-1 Tat mRNA Processing and Translation During HIV-1 Latency

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2021
HIV-1 Tat protein is essential for virus production. RNA-binding proteins that facilitate Tat production may be absent or downregulated in resting CD4+ T-cells, the main reservoir of latent HIV in people with HIV (PWH) on antiretroviral therapy (ART). In
