Bioinformatics and HIV Latency [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent HIV/AIDS Reports, 2015
Despite effective treatment, HIV is not completely eliminated from the infected organism because of the existence of viral reservoirs. A major reservoir consists of infected resting CD4+ T cells, mostly of memory type, that persist over time due to the stable proviral insertion and a long cellular lifespan.

Latency and Liquidity Risk [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2019
Latency (i.e. time delay) in electronic markets affects the efficacy of liquidity taking strategies. During the time liquidity, takers process information and send marketable limit orders (MLOs) to the exchange, the limit order book (LOB) might undergo updates, so there is no guarantee that MLOs are filled.

Fitness Impaired Drug Resistant HIV-1 Is Not Compromised in Cell-to-Cell Transmission or Establishment of and Reactivation from Latency

open access: yesViruses, 2014
Both the presence of latently infected cells and cell-to-cell viral transmission are means whereby HIV can partially evade the inhibitory activities of antiretroviral drugs.

Bromodomain Inhibitors as Therapeutics for Herpesvirus-Related Disease: All BETs Are Off?

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2020
Although the ubiquitous human herpesviruses (HHVs) are rarely associated with serious disease of the healthy host, primary infection and reactivation in immunocompromised individuals can lead to significant morbidity and, in some cases, mortality ...

The Spectrum of Neurological Manifestations of Varicella–Zoster Virus Reactivation

open access: yesViruses, 2023
Varicella–Zoster virus (VZV) is a pathogenic human alpha herpes virus that causes varicella (chicken pox) as a primary infection and, following a variable period of latency in different ganglionic neurons, it reactivates to produce herpes zoster ...

Herpesvirus and Autophagy: “All Right, Everybody Be Cool, This Is a Robbery!”

open access: yesViruses, 2017
Autophagy is an essential vacuolar process of the cell, leading to lysosomal degradation and recycling of proteins and organelles, which is extremely important in maintaining homeostasis.

Interaction of drugs of abuse and microRNA with HIV: a brief review

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2015
MicroRNAs (miRNAs), the post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression, play key roles in modulating many cellular processes. The changes in the expression profiles of several specific miRNAs affect the interactions between miRNA and their targets in

Pragmatic and Effective Enhancements for Stanley Path-Tracking Controller by Considering System Delay

open access: yesVehicles, 2023
The Stanley controller is a proven approach for path tracking control in automated vehicles. If time delays occur, for example, in signal processing and steering angle control, precision and stability decrease.

KSHV miRNAs Decrease Expression of Lytic Genes in Latently Infected PEL and Endothelial Cells by Targeting Host Transcription Factors

open access: yesViruses, 2014
Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) microRNAs are encoded in the latency-associated region. Knockdown of KSHV miR-K12-3 and miR-K12-11 increased expression of lytic genes in BC-3 cells, and increased virus production from latently infected ...

Eye Movement Latency Coefficient of Variation as a Predictor of Cognitive Impairment: An Eye Tracking Study of Cognitive Impairment

open access: yesVision, 2023
Studies demonstrated impairment in the control of saccadic eye movements in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) when conducting the pro-saccade and antisaccade tasks.
