Heritability of growth traits in the Asian seabass ( Lates calcarifer )
Growth is an economically important trait in aquaculture. To improve growth trait of the Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) we have been carrying out, since 2004, a selective breeding program. This study focuses on growth traits in the F2 fish generation, comprised of offspring from 23 mass crosses from 383 F1 brooders.

ABSTRACT Cell lines are essential tools for studying animal physiology and immunopathology, reducing the use of live animals and supporting the 3Rs principle of reduction, refinement, and replacement. The Senegalese sole (Solea senegalensis), a relevant species for Spanish aquaculture diversification, lacks established in vitro models. We developed SsB‐

ABSTRACT Vibrio harveyi is an important bacterial pathogen in marine aquaculture, responsible for outbreaks affecting a wide range of fish species. Early detection of potentially virulent isolates in fish and environmental samples is essential for effective disease prevention and management, particularly under field conditions where the pathogen may be

Production of killed vaccine from Streptococcus sp. and its application in sea bass (Lates calcarifer) [PDF]
Fish with an average length of 3.0-4.0 inches vaccinated with formalin-killed vaccine of Streptococcus sp. either by intraperitoneal injection and immersion methods had a survival rate of 100% indicating that the vaccine is safe to be used with sea bass.

ABSTRACT Large‐scale double‐digest RAD sequencing (ddRADseq) datasets generated for genotyping are increasingly available in aquaculture, yet their unmapped reads remain largely unexplored for pathogen surveillance. Here, we evaluated the utility and limitations of repurposing unmapped ddRADseq reads to examine pathogen‐associated and disease ...
