This study assessed the non‐target effects of commonly used agrochemicals on the egg parasitoid Trichogrammatoidea cryptophlebiae, an important biological control agent in South African orchards. Agrochemical impacts varied across life stages, with several insecticides allowing adult survival but significantly reducing parasitism and developmental ...

Arsenite methyltransferase 3 is required for mitochondrial function and hepatic lipid metabolism
AS3MT is a protein that helps the body process arsenic, a naturally occurring toxin found in water and soil. We discovered it also helps cells make and use energy properly. Without AS3MT, cells' mitochondria do not work well, leading to fatty liver and reduced activity. Increasing AS3MT in liver cells restores energy and protects against arsenic damage,

The principal arboviral vector Aedes aegypti can develop in coastal brackish water field habitats (0.5–15 g/L salt) with larvae possessing thicker cuticles and greater resistance to the larvicide Temephos. Females emerging from brackish water‐developing preimaginal stages are now shown to have thicker and remodelled leg and abdominal cuticles and ...

LETHAL EFFECTS OF 2,2-DICHLOROVINYL DIMETHYL PHOSPHATE (DDVP) ON FINGERLING AND JUVENILE Clarias gariepinus (BURCHELL, 1822) [PDF]
This study investigated the lethal toxicity of 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate (DDVP) on African mud catfish, Clarias gariepinus fingerlings (mean weight 7.02 ± 2.56 g) and juveniles (mean weight 13.54 ± 1.46 g) in a static renewable bioassay. DDVP,

Leaf age influences metabolomic profiling but not bioactivity of Eucalyptus globulus essential oils. Leaf age affects volatile levels of young and adult E. globulus oils, but not their bioactivity. Young leaf essential oil had higher contents of α‐ and β‐pinene. AEEO had higher levels of 1,8‐cineole and trans‐pinocarveol.
