Evaluation of Uliginosin B as a Modulator of the Ras Pathway: In Vivo Evidence From Caenorhabditis elegans and In Silico Insights

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study performs in vivo and in silico assays with uliginosin B, targeting its activity in the Ras signaling pathway, demonstrating a possible allosteric interaction with the HRAS (human) and LET‐60 (nematode) proteins, and a decrease in the overexpression of the let‐60 gene in the nematode C. elegans.

Sublethal Clothianidin Exposure Increases Trait Variation and Drives Sex‐Specific Selection in the Water Strider Gerris latiabdominis

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
We highlight the importance of considering insecticide effects on trait variance and selection—not merely trait means—to fully understand evolutionary changes in non‐target populations. We suggest incorporating sublethal effects on semi‐aquatic predatory insects into ecological risk assessments on agroecosystems. ABSTRACT Agricultural insecticides pose

Integrated Evaluation of the Multifunctional Bioactivity of Curcuma zedoaria (Christm.) Roscoe Essential Oil: Antimicrobial, Insecticidal, and Postharvest Effects on Fresh Ginger

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
Multifunctional bioactivity of Curcuma zedoaria essential oil. ABSTRACT Plant‐derived essential oils are increasingly investigated as sustainable alternatives for food preservation and crop protection; however, their multifunctional applicability under postharvest conditions remains insufficiently explored.

Green‐Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles Against Acinetobacter baumannii: A Systematic Review of Antibacterial Activity, Mechanisms of Action, Toxicity, and Antibiofilm Effects

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Schematic overview of the main antibacterial mechanisms proposed for green‐synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) against Acinetobacter baumannii. The figure summarizes the phytosynthetic pathway used to produce AgNPs (right panel) and the major reported antibacterial effects, including reactive oxygen species generation, oxidative stress, membrane ...

How does leaf age affect performance? A comparative study of essential oils from young and mature Eucalyptus globulus leaves in crop protection

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 8, Page 7510-7525, August 2026.
Leaf age influences metabolomic profiling but not bioactivity of Eucalyptus globulus essential oils. Leaf age affects volatile levels of young and adult E. globulus oils, but not their bioactivity. Young leaf essential oil had higher contents of α‐ and β‐pinene. AEEO had higher levels of 1,8‐cineole and trans‐pinocarveol.

Copper Slag‐Derived Cu3Fe17@C Alloy Enabling Efficient Peroxymonosulfate Activation for Levofloxacin Degradation via Cu‐Mediated Electron Transfer With Suppressed Metal Leaching

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Although alloy‐based materials present potential for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation, metal ion leaching remains severely restricted during the pollution degradation process. Herein, the porous carbon‐supported Fe–Cu alloy derived from industrial copper slag was prepared to remove the organic pollutants from wastewater while inhibiting the ...

Daidai Flower Essential Oil as a Multifunctional Natural Agent: Chemical Profile, Antimicrobial Activity, Preliminary Insecticidal Potential, and Improved Microbiological Quality of Fresh Arugula During Refrigerated Storage

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This study evaluates the potential of daidai flower essential oil (DFEO) (Citrus aurantium var. daidai) as a natural preservative for fresh leafy vegetables. The chemical composition of DFEO was determined by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC–MS), revealing a neroli‐type profile dominated by linalool (42.8%), limonene (19.9%

Monitoring spirodiclofen resistance in female Brevipalpus yothersi (Acari: Tenuipalpidae) from citrus orchards in Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 3, Page 410-424, August 2026.
Spirodiclofen resistance levels in B. yothersi varied geographically across the Brazilian citrus belt, with higher resistance in the central region. Sublethal effects included reduced oviposition, increased non‐viable eggs and disrupted female reproduction.

Rational Design, Synthesis, and Biological Evaluation of New Substituted Dihydropyrimidinones as Antibacterial Agents and β‐Lactamase Inhibitors

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 108, Issue 2, August 2026.
Novel 1,6‐dihydropyrimidinones act as antibacterial agents and beta‐lactamase inhibitors. Compounds 3d, 3i, and 7b demonstrated enhanced beta‐lactamase inhibition relative to the standard reference, clavulanic acid, demonstrating significant potentiation effects to restore antibiotic efficacy and combat resistant bacterial strains. ABSTRACT A series of
