A preliminary field trial to compare control techniques for invasive Berberis aquifolium in Belgian coastal dunes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Non-native Berberis aquifolium is an invasive species in Belgian coastal dunes. With its strong clonal growth through suckers, this evergreen shrub outcompetes native species and affects dune succession.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Effects of Excessive Ear Removal on Senescence Order of Wheat Functional Leaves

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2009
We studied the effects of different ear removal treatments on the senescence order of functional leaves and the effects of removal of 3/4 ear on the chlorophyll content, net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomata conductance, malonaldehyde ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Unravelling the effects of berry size on ‘Tempranillo’ grapes under different field practices [PDF]

open access: yesCiência e Técnica Vitivinícola, 2019
Small berries are considered to produce the best red wines as berry size determines the skin to pulp ratio and may affect wine composition. However, contrasting results have been reported about this postulate. In this context, the aim of this work was to

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Core percolation in random graphs: a critical phenomena analysis

open access: yes, 2001
We study both numerically and analytically what happens to a random graph of average connectivity "alpha" when its leaves and their neighbors are removed iteratively up to the point when no leaf remains.

Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...

Timing of cluster-zone leaf removal and its impact on canopy morphology, cluster structure and bunch rot susceptibility of grapes

open access: yesOENO One, 2011
Aims: Leaf removal in the cluster-zone has proved to be an efficient option to reduce grey mould infestation. The aim of the present work was to determine the optimal timing of this measure in practical viticulture.

RNA Sequencing Resolves Cryptic Pathogenic Variants in Mitochondrial Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial diseases are the most common inherited metabolic disorders, characterized by pronounced clinical and genetic heterogeneity that complicates molecular diagnosis. Although DNA‐based sequencing approaches have become standard in genetic testing, up to half of patients remain without a definitive diagnosis.
