Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Sparsity-Enhanced Constrained Least-Squares Spectral Analysis with Greedy-FISTA

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The utilization of the inversion-based algorithm for spectral decomposition using constrained least-squares spectral analysis (CLSSA) facilitates a time–frequency spectrum with higher temporal and frequency resolution. The conventional CLSSA algorithm is

Numerical Analysis of Least-Squares Group Finite Element Method for Coupled Burgers' Problem

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2021
In this paper, a least squares group finite element method for solving coupled Burgers' problem in   2-D is presented. A fully discrete formulation of least squares finite element method is analyzed, the backward-Euler scheme for the time variable is ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Modification of the Conventional Influenza Epidemic Models Using Environmental Parameters in Iran [PDF]

open access: yesHealthcare Informatics Research, 2019
ObjectivesThe association between the spread of infectious diseases and climate parameters has been widely studied in recent decades. In this paper, we formulate, exploit, and compare three variations of the susceptible-infected-recovered (SIR) model ...

New Constructed EEM Spectra Combined with N-PLS Analysis Approach as an Effective Way to Determine Multiple Target Compounds in Complex Samples

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Excitation–emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence spectroscopy has been applied to many fields. In this study, a simple method was proposed to obtain the new constructed three-dimensional (3D) EEM spectra based on the original EEM spectra.

PLASMA: Partial LeAst Squares for Multiomics Analysis

open access: yesCancers, 2023
Background/Objectives: Recent growth in the number and applications of high-throughput “omics” technologies has created a need for better methods to integrate multiomics data. Much progress has been made in developing unsupervised methods, but supervised methods have lagged behind. Methods: Here we present the first algorithm, PLASMA, that can learn to

Performance analysis of the Least-Squares estimator in Astrometry

open access: yes, 2015
We characterize the performance of the widely-used least-squares estimator in astrometry in terms of a comparison with the Cramer-Rao lower variance bound.

A Nonlinear Least Squares Fit procedure for analysis of immittance data of electrochemical systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
A Nonlinear Least Squares Fit (NLLSF) program is described, with which frequency dispersion data of electrochemical systems can be analyzed in terms of an equivalent circuit.
