Impact of salt stress (NaCl) on growth, chlorophyll content and fluorescence of Tunisian cultivars of chili pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) [PDF]
Salinity is considered as the most important abiotic stress limiting crop production and plants are known to be able continuing survive under this stress by involving many mechanisms.

This study simultaneously investigated circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and exosomes from small‐cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients. The elevated expression of JUNB and CXCR4 in CTCs was a poor prognostic factor for SCLC patients, whereas exosomal overexpression of these biomarkers revealed a high discrimination ability of patients from healthy individuals,

Premise Most traits are polygenic and most genes are pleiotropic, resulting in complex, integrated phenotypes. Polyploidy presents an excellent opportunity to explore the evolution of phenotypic integration as entire genomes are duplicated, allowing for ...

In vitro antioxidant and cell viability of Pyrostegia venusta (Ker Gawl.) Miers)
Many diseases are associated with oxidative stress and inflammatory processes. The current research is directed toward evaluating the antioxidant potential and phytochemistry composition of P. venusta leaves. In this study, P.

Distortion of leaves in product foliations [PDF]
We produce examples of codimension one foliations of the Euclidean and hyperbolic planes with bounded geometry which are topologically products, but for which leaves are non-recursively distorted. That is, the function which compares intrinsic distances in leaves with extrinsic distances in the ambient space grows faster than any recursive function.

Tumor microenvironment drives cancer formation and progression. We analyzed the role of human cancer‐associated adipocytes from patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) stratified as lean, overweight, or obese. RNA‐seq demonstrated that, among the most altered genes involved in the tumor–stroma crosstalk, are ADAM12 and CYP1B1, which were proven to be ...

Stability of symplectic leaves [PDF]
We find computable criteria for stability of symplectic leaves of Poisson manifolds. Using Poisson geometry as an inspiration, we also give a general criterion for stability of leaves of Lie algebroids, including singular ones. This not only extends but also provides a new approach (and proofs) to the classical stability results for foliations and ...

Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Settling aerodynamics is a driver of symmetry in deciduous tree leaves [PDF]
Leaves shed by deciduous trees contain 40\% of the annually sequestered carbon, and include nutrients vital to the expansion and health of forest ecosystems. To achieve this, leaves must fall quickly to land near the parent tree -- otherwise, they are lost to the wind, like pollen or gliding seeds. However, the link between leaf shape and sedimentation
