Survey of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in Mexico: Leishmania Species, Clinical Expressions and Risk Factors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Leishmaniasis is caused by Leishmania sp., which is transmitted to human beings and reservoirs by phlebotomine sand flies, with worldwide prevalence of approximately 12 million cases with population at risk of approximately 350 million.

What fuel for a rocket? [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Mexicana de Fisica, 49, 191 (2003), 2012
Elementary concepts from general physics and thermodynamics have been used to analyze rocket propulsion. Making some reasonable assumptions, an expression for the exit velocity of the gases is found. From that expression one can conclude what are the desired properties for a rocket fuel.

Temperature Structure and Chemical Abundances in Gaseous Nebulae [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
In this summary I review some results relative to: planetary nebulae, H II regions, chemical evolution of galaxies, and the determination of the primordial helium abundance. These results were presented during the symposium "Ionized Gaseous Nebulae" which took place in Mexico City, Nov, 2000.

Monitoring the efficiency of iron chelation therapy: the potential of nontransferrin-bound iron.

open access: yes, 2010
The major ligands of nontransferrin-bound iron (NTBI) are suggested to be citrate and albumin. The proportion of iron binding to albumin is influenced by the degree of oxidation and glycation of the protein.

The intrinsic high metallicity of cSNRs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2003
Here we present semi-analytical solutions of the hydrodynamics of compact supernova remnants (cSNRs) and their chemical evolution. Two models of $15 M_{\odot}$ and $25 M_{\odot}$ supernova explosions evolving in a high density medium ($n_0 \sim 10^7 cm^{-3}$) are throughly discussed.
