ZDHHC18‐Mediated Palmitoylation of ORF3a Promotes SARS‐CoV‐2 Pathogenesis by Antagonizing TRIM16‐Mediated Ubiquitination and Proteasomal Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Palmitoylation by ZDHHC18 blocks ORF3a K27‐linked ubiquitination mediated by TRIM16, thereby preventing its proteasomal degradation and strengthening viral pathogenesis. Targeting palmitoylation through a pharmacological inhibitor (2‐BP), a competitive inhibitory peptide (OPIP), or adenovirus‐mediated knockdown of ZDHHC18 expression presents a ...

Master Regulator SMC1A, Stabilized by N6‐Methyladenosine Reader IGF2BP1, Promotes HCC Progression Through Facilitating Enhancer–Promoter Interaction of Nestin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IGF2BP1‐mediated m6A stabilization sustains SMC1A expression, enabling cohesin‐associated chromatin regulation of Nestin in hepatocellular carcinoma. This work reveals an epitranscriptomic‐chromatin‐cytoskeletal regulatory axis linked to malignant phenotypes and identifies SMC1A as a biologically relevant vulnerability in HCC.

PIEZO1 is Required for Acute Myeloid Leukemia Progression and Leukemia Stem Cell Maintenance via HIF1A‐SLC7A11 Axis‐Mediated Ferroptosis Defense

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the mechanosensor PIEZO1 as a key factor in promoting acute myeloid leukemia progression and uncovers a ferroptosis defense system mediated by PIEZO1‐HIF1A‐SLC7A11 axis that is essential for leukemia stem cell maintenance. This ferroptotic defense system may represent a unique vulnerability for leukemia stem cells, providing a ...

Equine infectious anemia virus blocks interferon responses through Rev-mediated activation of the stress granule-PKR-eIF2α pathway.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens
Type I interferons (IFNs) play a pivotal role in antiviral defence by inducing interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) that target multiple stages of viral replication.

Retrovirus infections in non-domestic felids: serological studies and attempts to isolate a lentivirus

open access: yes, 1992
An African lioness from the Zoo of Zurich had to be euthanized because of an inoperable tumor. The serum tested negative for feline leukemia virus (FeLV) p27 antigen by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) but was strongly positive for feline ...

Lactoferrin Deficiency During Lactation Causes Adult Obesity‐Related Metabolic Disease Through Persistent Adipose Dysfunction Driven by Impaired Adipocyte Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactational lactoferrin deficiency exerts lasting effects on epididymal adipose tissue development from lactation into adulthood: it impairs adipocyte hyperplasia and induces pathological hypertrophy, resulting in lower body weight yet exacerbated metabolic dysfunction under a high‐fat diet in adulthood.

BCMA‐Engineered Dendritic Cell‐Derived Exosomes as Bi‐Functional Therapeutics Orchestrating Cytokine Sequestration and Immune Activation for Multiple Myeloma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A dual‐function cell‐free therapeutic based on DC2.4 cell‐derived exosomes engineered to display BCMA. (Left) Soluble Ligand Sequestration (Decoy Function): DB Exo act as molecular decoys that predominantly sequester soluble APRIL with partial BAFF attenuation, effectively disrupting the NF‐κB survival signaling axis and suppressing myeloma cell ...

Functional Reprogramming of Peripheral Eosinophils in Lentivirus-Infected Rhesus Macaques

open access: yesAIDS Research and Human Retroviruses
As innate immune cells, granulocytic eosinophils form part of the first line of defense against pathogens. While recent studies indicate that granulocytes have additional functions including anti-inflammatory roles, tissue homeostasis maintenance, remodeling, and trained innate immune memory, they remain understudied in viral infections, specifically ...
