An insight into a combination of ELISA strategies to diagnose small ruminant lentivirus infections
Andrés, Ximena de et al.A single broadly reactive standard ELISA is commonly applied to control small ruminant lentivirus (SRLV) spread, but type specific ELISA strategies are gaining interest in areas with highly prevalent and heterogeneous SRLV ...

Investigations on Lentivirus Infections in Italian Caprine Population
Zentralblatt für Veterinärmedizin Reihe B, 1985SummaryAn investigation carried out on 30 goat flocks in 7 Italian Regions showed the presence of antibodies against lentiviruses. The prevalence of serological positivity in the sample was 34.6%. The prevalence of infection in indigenous caprine breeds was markedly lower than that in animals of imported breeds (Sanaan, Toggenburg, Alpine).

Lentivirus infections and mechanisms of disease resistance in chimpanzees
Frontiers in Bioscience, 2003One year after the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was pinpointed as the etiological agent of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in humans, chimpanzees were identified as one of the few living species also capable of sustaining persistent HIV-1 infection.

Seroprevalence of small ruminant lentivirus infection in goats in Thailand
Polish Journal of Veterinary Sciences, 2021Small ruminant lentivirus (SRLV), which causes caprine arthritis encephalitis in goats and ovine progressive pneumonia (maedi-visna disease) in sheep, is classified in genus Lentiviruses belonging to Retroviridae family. It persists in infected goats and sheep, which mostly are sub- clinical.

Venereal shedding of ovine lentivirus in infected rams
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1996Abstract Objective To assess shedding of ovine lentivirus (OvLV) in semen of infected rams with or without epididymitis. Design Rams 1 and 2 were naturally infected with OvLV. Rams 3-6 were inoculated with OvLV strain 85/ 34. Ram 7 was inoculated with uninfected cell culture supernatatant (OvLV-negative control).

Infecting Mouse Embryos by Coculturing with Lentivirus
Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2018Lentiviral vectors make it possible to produce transgenic animals without the need to purchase expensive microinjection equipment because integration of the transgene is possible by coculture of embryos with virus. This protocol describes the infection of fertilized oocytes with lentivirus by coculture.
