Identification of New Ocellatin Antimicrobial Peptides by cDNA Precursor Cloning in the Frame of This Family of Intriguing Peptides

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2020
Ocellatins are a family of antimicrobial peptides found exclusively in the Leptodactylus genus. To date, 10 species have been studied and more than 23 peptides described.

Interactive effects between burrowing crayfish and flow conditions increase riverbank erosion: A flume experiment

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 5, May 2026.
Biological and geomorphic effects have been treated independently in fluvial geomorphology. Flume experiments with burrowing crayfish show that interactions between these drivers do more geomorphic work than the sum of their maximum independent parts combined, meaning total biogeomorphic effects to rivers are likely underestimated.

Diet of Leptodactylus ocellatus (Anura: leptodactylidae) from coastal lagoons of Southeastern Brazil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003

Artificial extrusion of spermatophores for insemination of the narrow-clawed crayfish Pontastacus leptodactylus (Eschscholtz, 1823)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2019
The extrusion of spermatophores using electrical stimulation and dissection techniques from the vas deference was performed to test the feasibility of artificial insemination in Pontastacus leptodactylus.

Genome‐Wide Characterization of Sex‐Linked Regions in the Sangzhi Horned Toad (Boulenophrys sangzhiensis) Reveals Complex Sex Determination Mechanisms

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 26, Issue 3, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Sex chromosomes in amphibians exhibit substantial variability and often remain largely homomorphic, providing a powerful system for studying sex determination. The Sangzhi horned toad (Boulenophrys sangzhiensis) is an ideal model, but limited genomic resources have hindered insights into sex determination mechanisms.

First record of the genus Leptodactylus (Anura: Leptodactylidae) in Cuba: Leptodactylus fragilis, a biological invasion?

open access: yes, 2018
The Neotropical genus Leptodactylus is currently represented by three species in the West Indies (Leptodactylus albilabris, Leptodactylus fallax and Leptodactylus validus). Based on morphological, acoustic and molecular evidence, we document the presence
