Tadpoles in Complex Environments: How Temperature, Desiccation Risk, and Predators Shape Larval Plasticity in a Tropical Frog

open access: yesFreshwater Biology, Volume 70, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Organisms have often evolved developmental plasticity to cope with environmental heterogeneity, but natural systems are often quite complex and organisms have to assess and respond to variation in multiple environmental factors simultaneously, which at times can elicit opposing or synergistic phenotypic responses.

Research on the Application of Green Ecological Additive Combinations During the Breeding Period of Redclaw Crayfish

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 5, Issue 5, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The three key processes in the breeding of redclaw crayfish are nutrient enhancement by parents, catching and hatching of egg‐holding crayfish and maintaining a feed supply for juveniles. An appropriate combination of green ecological additives is beneficial for improving the production efficiencies of the three key processes.

Eikonal Phase Retrieval: unleashing the potential of fourth‐generation sources for enhanced propagation‐based tomography on biological samples

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 32, Issue 5, Page 1291-1301, September 2025.
A new iterative phase retrieval algorithm, Eikonal Phase Retrieval, tackles large phase gradients and yields higher‐quality propagation‐based X‐ray tomography of strongly heterogeneous biological samples. The evolution of synchrotrons towards higher brilliance beams has increased the possible sample‐to‐detector propagation distances for which the source

Range Extension of Leptodactylus bufonius [PDF]

open access: yesCopeia, 1957
Recently I reported the presence of the chacoan batrachian Leptodactylus bufonius in the clayey soils of Jarilla, Alto Pencoso and Balde in San Luis, central Argentina (1955, Copeia (4); 291). The possibility was considered that this frog shares the underground social burrows of the rodents of the Lagidium group (vizcacheras) also found analogously in ...
