Cross Kingdom Metabolic Engineering Paradigm Elevating Sustainable Protein Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Confronting the dual crisis of escalating global protein demand and unsustainable agriculture necessitates transformative solutions. Here, we pioneer evolutionary insights from maize nitrogen optimization via asparagine synthetase (ASNS) to rewire metabolism in Pichia pastoris.

Stimulation of muscle anabolism by resistance exercise and ingestion of leucine plus protein

open access: yes, 2009
Leucine is known to stimulate muscle protein synthesis and anabolism. However, evidence for the efficacy of additional leucine to enhance the response of muscle anabolism to resistance exercise and protein ingestion is unclear.

Hijacking the Host Clock: A Nematode Effector Antagonizes Soybean Circadian Defense and Translation Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Soybean employs its circadian clock, governed by GmCCA1, to rhythmically defend against soybean cyst nematodes. The pathogen retaliates by secreting the effector Hg4E02, which hijacks the clock to suppress defense and co‐opt the host's translation machinery for nutrient acquisition.

Opioid System and Leucine Interaction in the Regulation of Feed Intake in Broiler Chickens [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary and Comparative Biomedical Research
The opioidergic system plays a critical role in feed intake, among other physiological functions. This study investigated the potential effects of the opioidergic system, leucine and its interaction with the central regulation of feed intake in broilers.

In Vitro Reassembly of the Malolactic Fermentation Pathway of Leuconostoc oenos (Oenococcus oeni) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The mechanism of metabolic energy generation by malolactic fermentation was studied with artificial membrane vesicles of Leuconostoc oenos (Oenococcus oeni). (Note that although L. oenos was recently reclassified as O.

Combating VEGFA‐siRNA‐Induced Metabolic Reprogramming via Glucose Utilization Deprivation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ionizable lipid nanoparticle co‐delivers VEGFA siRNA and glucose oxidase to tumors to counteract VEGFA knockdown‐induced, glutamine‐driven metabolic compensation. Enzymatic glucose consumption reverses the adaptive pathways and restores metabolism toward baseline, thereby sensitizing tumors to therapy.

Tumor‐Derived LAMB3 Drives Immunosuppressive LRRC15+ Fibroblast Formation During Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A single‐cell atlas of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma development reveals progressive ductal‐fibroblast‐immune crosstalk. Tumor‐derived LAMB3 drives the formation of immunosuppressive LRRC15+ fibroblasts through the ITGB1/FAK/MAPK/FOSL2 signaling. Glycolytic reprogramming upregulates LAMB3 and correlates with LRRC15+ fibroblast enrichment.

Effect of leucine on endoplasmic reticulum stress induced by early weaning in the liver of piglets

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2018
To investigate the effects of dietary leucine supplementation on endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in the liver of early-weaning piglets, we explored the morphology of liver cells, expression pattern of ER stress-associated proteins, and effects on ER ...
