Avoiding and allowing apatite precipitation in oxygenic photolithotrophs

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 238, Issue 5, Page 1801-1812, June 2023., 2023
Summary The essential elements Ca and P, taken up and used metabolically as Ca2+ and H2PO4−/HPO42− respectively, could precipitate as one or more of the insoluble forms calcium phosphate (mainly apatite) if the free ion concentrations and pH are high enough.

Purification of Leucoplast Pyruvate Kinase from Developing Castor Bean Endosperm [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1990
Leucoplast pyruvate kinase from endosperm of developing castor oil seeds (Ricinus communis L.; cv Baker) has been purified 1370-fold to a specific activity of 41.1 micromoles pyruvate produced per minute per milligram protein. Nondenaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of the purified enzyme resulted in a single protein staining band that co ...

Adhesive Properties of Micropore ® , Transpore ® , Leucoplast ® and Sleek ® [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia and Intensive Care, 2002
Adhesive tapes are a routine part of every anaesthetic. Until now there has been little clinical data on the efficacy of these tapes. This study compared Micropore ® Transpore ® , Leukoplast ® and Sleek

Import Characteristics of a Leucoplast Pyruvate Kinase Are Influenced by a 19-Amino-acid Domain within the Protein [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1995
Two cDNA clones encoding distinct forms of plastid pyruvate kinase (designated Pka and Pkg) have recently been characterized. Pkg is found in both leucoplasts and chloroplasts, whereas Pka is present only in leucoplasts. The precursors of these proteins have different in vitro import characteristics.

Transformations of Plastids in white Pumpkin Fruits [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Razvoj plastida u subepidermi plodova varijeteta Cucurbita pepo var. pâtisson započinje sa stadijem normalno građenih proplastida. Sazrijevanjem ploda proplastidi prelaze u odrasle bezbojne plastide — leukoplaste, čija fina građa odgovara onoj ...

Decoding GUN1 in plastid‐to‐nucleus signaling: what it doesn't, what it does, and why it matters

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 1, Page 81-88, July 2026.
Publication history of plant GUN1 research. Summary Plastid‐to‐nucleus retrograde signaling coordinates nuclear gene expression with the developmental and physiological state of plastids. GENOMES UNCOUPLED 1 (GUN1), a chloroplast‐localized PPR‐SMR protein, remains a central yet poorly understood component of this network.

Les plastes des cellules-hotes des mycorhizes à vésicules et arbuscules

open access: yes, 1990
In nonmycorrhizal roots, the plastids of cortical cells developed either into leucoplasts (Plectranîhus australis) or into amyloplasts (Prunus avium and Pirus malus). In cells infected with the endophyte of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizas, in all three

Leucoplast Pyruvate Kinase from Developing Castor Oil Seeds [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1991
Leucoplast pyruvate kinase (PK(p); EC 2.7.1.40) from endosperm of developing castor oil seeds (Ricinus communis L. cv Baker 296) appears to be highly susceptible to limited degradation by a cysteine endopeptidase during the purification of the enzyme or incubation of clarified homogenates at 4 degrees C.

A Hierarchical VvbHLH30‐VvERF70‐VvACS2 Module Orchestrates Ethylene Biosynthesis and Cold Adaptation in Grapevine

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 6, Page 4317-4341, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Ethylene is a key gaseous phytohormone that plays crucial roles in regulating plant growth, development and stress responses. However, ethylene‐associated biosynthetic and transcriptional regulatory mechanisms governing cold‐adaptation responses in plants remain poorly understood.

Characterization of Phytoene Desaturase Knockout Carotenoid‐Deficient Microalgal Mutants Generated by Cas9‐Ribonucleoprotein Complexes

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 178, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Phytoene desaturase (PDS; EC 1.3.5.5) is a key enzyme of the carotenoid biosynthetic pathway, catalyzing the desaturation of phytoene, precursor of all carotenoids. In this study, several PDS‐knockout (PDS‐KO) transformants of the chlorophyte microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii were generated using a reverse genetics strategy. Two single guide
