Cohesins: Crossroad Between Cornelia de Lange Spectrum and Cancer Predisposition
ABSTRACT The cohesin complex plays crucial roles in DNA repair, chromatid separation, and gene transcription regulation. Pathogenic variants in cohesins or dysfunctional transcriptional regulators lead to cohesinopathies, a broader group of disorders including Cornelia de Lange Spectrum (CdLSp), for which the prevalence of cancer cases remains unclear.

ABSTRACT Background The pathogenesis of inflammation in eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis (ECRS) and non‐eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis (NECRS) remains poorly understood. This study aimed to assess immune cell infiltration within the sinonasal microenvironment in these conditions.

Abstract Background Thrombocytosis is a presenting and progressive clinical feature found in multiple disease states. It is characterized by high platelet (PLT) counts (>450 × 109/L) and can lead to thrombohemorrhagic events. Thrombocytapheresis or platelet depletion (PLTD) can be performed in acutely symptomatic patients suffering from thrombocytosis ...

A 80-year-old woman with B-cell prolymphocytic leukemia
Prolymhocytic leukemia (PLL) is a rare subtype of lymphocytic leukemias and its cells are immature lymphocytes. It is divided into 2 subgroups: T-PLL and B-PLL according to the lymphocytic origin of the cells.

Fierce selection and interference in B-cell repertoire response to chronic HIV-1 [PDF]
During chronic infection, HIV-1 engages in a rapid coevolutionary arms race with the host's adaptive immune system. While it is clear that HIV exerts strong selection on the adaptive immune system, the characteristics of the somatic evolution that shape the immune response are still unknown.

Objective Two randomized trials for patients with diffuse systemic sclerosis (SSc) demonstrated an overall survival (OS) and event‐free survival (EFS) advantage of autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) using CD34+ selected peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs) compared with monthly cyclophosphamide (CY).

Cancer Detection via Determination of Fractal Cell Dimension [PDF]
We utilize the fractal dimension of the perimeter surface of cell sections as a new observable to characterize cells of different types. We propose that it is possible to distinguish cancerous from healthy cells with the aid of this new approach. As a first application we show that it is possible to perform this distinction between patients with hairy ...
