The effects of administration of nonselective inhibitor of NO-synthase under X-ray radiation

open access: yesБіологічні студії, 2009
Total activity of NO-synthetase and content of nitrates and nitrites in immunocompetent cells of rat peripheral blood under the influence of fraction x-ray radiation and peroral administration of L-NAME were studied. It was shown that administration of

The leukocyte podosome

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Cell Biology, 2006
Myeloid leukocytes are the first line of host defence. When they sense perturbations in tissue homeostasis such as infection, inflammation and ischemia, they respond by trafficking. Whilst neutrophils and macrophages migrate to sites of infection, dendritic cells (DC) migrate from tissue-resident sites back into lymph nodes where they activate T and B ...

Serum Soluble Mediator Signatures of Lupus Nephritis: Histologic Features and Response to Treatment

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Lupus nephritis (LN) management remains challenging, and novel noninvasive biomarkers are needed. This study quantified serum soluble mediators in the Accelerating Medicines Partnership (AMP) LN cohort to identify biomarkers of histologic features and treatment response.

Host‐Directed Biomaterials for Combatting Bloodstream Infections: From Macrocyclic Peptides to Immune‐Activating Cell Backpacks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bloodstream infections (BSI) are one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in both civilian and military populations. This paper summarizes recent progress in novel treatment strategies to manage BSI arising from both bacterial and fungal pathogens using molecules, particles, and materials to elicit host‐directed immunity.

Influence of long-term injection of CdCl2 on the activity of leucopoiesis processes in rats

open access: yesБіологічні студії, 2012
It was shown that long-term (7 and 21 day) administration of CdCl2 (3 mg/kg) increases the number of white blood cells in rats appropriately for 57.3% and 38.5%, these changes we are mediated by 54.7% increase of the content of polymorphonuclear ...

Self‐Immolative Activatable Nanoassembly toward Immuno‐Photodynamic Therapy in TME

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A quinone methide‐gated, self‐immolative, H2O2‐responsive nano‐photosensitizer (Pyz/PS) is developed for targeted immuno‐photodynamic therapy. Pyz/PS selectively activates within tumor microenvironments, restores photosensitizer activity, generates ROS, and depletes intracellular GSH, enhancing oxidative stress.

Blocking LFA-1 Aggravates Cardiac Inflammation in Experimental Autoimmune Myocarditis

open access: yesCells, 2019
The lymphocyte function-associated antigen 1 (LFA-1) is a member of the beta2-integrin family and plays a pivotal role for T cell activation and leukocyte trafficking under inflammatory conditions.
