The role of lipid metabolism in neuronal senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Disrupted lipid metabolism, through alterations in lipid species or lipid droplet accumulation, can drive neuronal senescence. However, lipid dyshomeostasis can also occur alongside neuronal senescence, further amplifying tissue damage. Delineating how lipid‐induced senescence emerges in neurons and glial cells, and how it contributes to ageing and ...

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Soil Load on Plastic Pipe and its Influence on Lifetime

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering, 2019
Lifetime of plastic pipes can be estimated by integration of a power law describing the crack kinetics. However, this procedure requires an FEM (finite element method) calculation of the possible crack propagation in the pipe to obtain stress intensity ...

Lifetime Analysis of IGBT Power Modules in Passively Cooled Tidal Turbine Converters

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Thermal cycling is one of the major reasons for failure in power electronic converters. For submerged tidal turbine converters investigating this failure mode is critical in improving the reliability, and minimizing the cost of energy from tidal turbines.
