The methodology of a part lifetime calculation

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract Reducing mills in piece-reduction at the moment of capturing the pipe’s front end and on the rear end exit are exposed to increased dynamic loads. However these processes at present time are not fully researched. The relevant problem is to decrease dynamic loads in the clamp engine, to increase reliability and durability of the ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Simplification of the rolling contact-related lifetime calculation of profiled rail guides with a polynomial regression

open access: yesJournal of Machine Engineering
The calculation of the lifespan of profile rail guides is an essential part in the design process of machines. Conventional lifespan models yield good results when calculating lifespan values under a homogeneous distribution of individual rolling contact

One-Loop Corrections to Bubble Nucleation Rate at Finite Temperature

open access: yes, 1993
We present an evaluation of the 1-loop prefactor in the lifetime of a metastable state which decays at finite temperature by bubble nucleation. Such a state is considered in one-component phi^4 model in three space dimensions. The calculation serves as a

The route toward a diode-pumped 1-W erbium 3-µm fiber laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
A rate-equation analysis of the erbium 3-um ZBLAN fiber laser is performed. The computer calculation includes the longitudinal spatial resolution of the host material.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A Study on Fuel Estimation Algorithms for a Geostationary Communication & Broadcasting Satellite [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2000
It has been developed to calculate fuel budget for a geostationary communication and broadcasting satellite. It is quite essential that the pre-launch fuel budget estimation must account for the deterministic transfer and drift orbit maneuver ...

Contact mechanics in fretting fatigue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper studies the contact mechanics in a line contact during fretting fatigue conditions. In literature one can find numerical and analytical solutions of normal and tangential stresses for a variety of loading cases.

Insights into a long life without cancer: The case of the bowhead whale

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Long‐lived, large‐bodied organisms have evolved powerful anticancer mechanisms that preserve cellular and tissue integrity across extended lifespans. A recent study by Firsanov et al. shows that greater genome stability is a key factor underlying the remarkable longevity and cancer resistance of one such species, the bowhead whale.
