Content Adaptation and Depth Perception in an Affordable Multi-View Display

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
We present SliceView, a simple and inexpensive multi-view display made with multiple parallel translucent sheets that sit on top of a regular monitor; each sheet reflects different 2D images that are perceived cumulatively. A technical study is performed

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Tabletop 360-Degree Three-Dimensional Light-Field Display Based on Viewpoint-Fitting Encoding Algorithm for Reducing Facet Braiding

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
Since the effect of the facet braiding phenomenon, the display quality of reconstructed image degrades with increasing depth of field in tabletop three-dimensional light-field display.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Large Depth of Range Maxwellian-Viewing SMV Near-Eye Display Based on a Pancharatnam-Berry Optical Element

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
In order to overcome the accommodation and convergence (A-C) conflict that commonly causes visual fatigue in AR display, we propose a Maxwellian-viewing-super-multi-view (MV-SMV) near-eye display system based on a Pancharatnam-Berry optical element (PBOE)

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

An Augmented-Reality Holographic Stereogram Based on 3D Optical Field Information Manipulation and Reconstruction

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Holographic stereogram comprises a hotspot in the field of three-dimensional (3D) display. It can reconstruct the light field information of real and virtual scenes at the same time, further improving the comprehensibility of the scene and achieving the “

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A Flexible Coding Scheme Based on Block Krylov Subspace Approximation for Light Field Displays with Stacked Multiplicative Layers

open access: yesSensors, 2021
To create a realistic 3D perception on glasses-free displays, it is critical to support continuous motion parallax, greater depths of field, and wider fields of view.
