Determining Arsenic Distribution in Urban Soils: A Comparison with Nonurban Soils

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2002
There are many challenges in the determination of arsenic background concentrations in soils. However, these challenges are magnified when those determinations are carried out on urban soils.

Water sorption of light–cured composites [PDF]

open access: yesAl-Rafidain Dental Journal, 2005
The aim of the present research was to study the percentage water sorption and solubility of Esthet composite resin based on an ethoxylated bisphenol A glycol dimethacrylate (Bis–EMA) and Heliomolar composite resin based on bisphenol A glycol ...

Patterns of water in light [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2019
The intricate patterns emerging from the interactions between soliton stripes of a two-dimensional defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) model with a non-local nonlinearity are considered. We show that, for sufficiently strong non-locality, the model is asymptotically reduced to a Kadomtsev–Petviashvilli-II (KPII) equation, which is a common model ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Neural Network Compensation Control for Output Power Optimization of Wind Energy Conversion System Based on Data-Driven Control

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, 2012
Due to the uncertainty of wind and because wind energy conversion systems (WECSs) have strong nonlinear characteristics, accurate model of the WECS is difficult to be built.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Polysaccharide extracted from pomelo fruitlets attenuate hepatic lipid accumulation in hybrid groupers (Epinephelus lanceolatus♂ × Epinephelus fuscoguttatus♀)

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2023
IntroductionPomelo is one of the most consumed fruits due to its distinct flavor and sour taste, while large quantities of pomelo fruitlets discard during cultivation and most of them are disposed of as wastes.
