Likelihood Ratio Testing under Measurement Errors [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
We consider the likelihood ratio test of a simple null hypothesis (with density f 0 ) against a simple alternative hypothesis (with density g 0 ) in the situation that observations X i are mismeasured due to the presence of measurement errors.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Power analysis for RNA-Seq differential expression studies

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2017
Background Sample size calculation and power estimation are essential components of experimental designs in biomedical research. It is very challenging to estimate power for RNA-Seq differential expression under complex experimental designs.

On Likelihood Ratio Tests for Dimensionality Selection

open access: yes, 2023
Many multivariate statistical models have dimensional structures. Such models typically require judicious choice of dimensionality. Likelihood ratio tests are often used for dimensionality selection. However, to this day there is still a great deal of confusion about the asymptotic distributional properties of the log-likelihood ratio (LR) statistics ...

Sequential Likelihood Ratio Test for Cognitive Radios [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2016
This paper presents a sequential likelihood ratio test (SLRT) detector for spectrum sensing scenarios in cognitive radios (CRs). Similar to other CR detectors, we exploit the structure of the sample covariance matrix of the received signal to achieve detection with minimal information regarding the signal.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Inflated Kumaraswamy distributions

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2019
: The Kumaraswamy distribution is useful for modeling variables whose support is the standard unit interval, i.e., (0, 1). It is not uncommon, however, for the data to contain zeros and/or ones.

Statistical Inference for Odds Ratio of Two Proportions in Bilateral Correlated Data

open access: yesAxioms, 2022
Bilateral correlated data frequently arise in medical clinical studies such as otolaryngology and ophthalmology. Based on an equal correlation coefficient model, this paper mainly aimed to investigate the statistical inference for the odds ratio of two ...

On the Likelihood Ratio Tests in Bivariate ACDE Models [PDF]

open access: yesPsychometrika, 2013
The ACE and ADE models have been heavily exploited in twin studies to identify the genetic and environmental components in phenotypes. However, the validity of the likelihood ratio test (LRT) of the existence of a variance component, a key step in the use of such models, has been doubted because the true values of the parameters lie on the boundary of ...
