Gender differences in limonin pharmacokinetics in rats

European Journal of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, 2005
In the present study, the pharmacokinetics of limonin (LM) were investigated in male and female rats. LM concentrations in the plasma were determined after the oral administration of 36 mg/kg LM or after intravenous (i.v.) injection of LM 3.6 mg/kg respectively.

Dietary limonin alleviates Salmonella Typhimurium-induced colitis via dual targeting virulence SopB and SopE2 and inhibiting RAC1/CDC42/Arp2/3 pathway and regulating gut microbiota.

Food & Function
Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (STM) causes severe colitis, necessitating the development of effective drugs. Here, the dockings of limonin with the STM T3SS-1 virulence factor SopB or SopE2 showed strong binding activity in silico and was ...

An Improved Enzyme Immunoassay for Limonin

Journal of Food Science, 1988
ABSTRACT Performance of the previously reported enzyme immunoassay for determination of limonin in citrus juice was improved by stabilization of anti‐limonin‐antibody‐coated microtitration wells with 1% solution of ovalbumin and polyvinyl alcohol.

Multi-strategy profiling identifies limonin's dual role in gout: restoring uric acid homeostasis and suppressing inflammatory response.

Food & Function
Gout is an increasingly prevalent global health issue, characterized by disrupted uric acid (UA) homeostasis, and commonly accompanied by hepatorenal damage and inflammation.

Detection of bitter limonin in citrus samples using plasmonic gold nanobipyramid-based dual-mode lateral flow immunoassay.

Analytical Methods
The detection of limonin, a bitter compound in citrus samples, is crucial for maintaining product quality, safety, and marketability and ultimately benefits both producers and consumers. In this assay to effectively modify the monoclonal antibody on gold

CeO2NPs Based Capacitive Sensor for Quantification of Limonin in Citrus Limetta Juice

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2023
Citrus fruit juices are beneficial to health immunity due to having antiviral, antifungal, and antioxidant properties. However, acceptability of its juices reduces due to the delayed bitterness caused mainly by the biomolecule limonin.

Modulating limonin release via pectin fine structure in Ca2+-citrus pectin emulsion gels.

Food Research International
Despite the well-established role of calcium in pectin gelation, the regulatory mechanisms by which Ca2+ concentration governs the microstructure and functionality of emulsion gels derived from citrus pectin remain poorly understood.

Limonin (LM) and its derivatives: Unveiling the neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory potential of LM and V-A-4 in the management of Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.

Fitoterapia
Neuroinflammation and neuronal apoptosis are central pathogenic consequences associated with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Parkinson's Disease (PD). Limonin (LM), a tetracyclic triterpenoid available in citrus fruits, has anti-tumor, antioxidant, anti ...

Network Pharmacology to Reveal the Molecular Mechanisms of Rutaceous Plant-derived Limonin Ameliorating Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis.

Critical Reviews in Immunology, 2023
BACKGROUND Limonin shows promise in alleviating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. We investigated the mechanisms of limonin against non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) using network pharmacology and molecular docking.

Effects of limonin on oxidative stress and early apoptosis in oocytes during in vitro maturation.

Theriogenology
To investigate the effects of limonin (Lim) on oxidative stress and early apoptosis in bovine oocytes during in vitro maturation (IVM), different concentrations of Lim (0, 10, 20, 50 μmol/L) were added to bovine IVM medium.
