Robust Classification of Functional and Quantitative Image Data Using Functional Mixed Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper describes how to perform classification of complex, high-dimensional functional data using the functional mixed model (FMM) framework. The FMM relates a functional response to a set of predictors through functional fixed and random effects ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Fitting multilevel multivariate models with missing data in responses and covariates that may include interactions and non-linear terms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The paper extends existing models for multilevel multivariate data with mixed response types to handle quite general types and patterns of missing data values in a wide range of multilevel generalized linear models.

Half-Normal Plots and Overdispersed Models in R: The hnp Package

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2017
Count and proportion data may present overdispersion, i.e., greater variability than expected by the Poisson and binomial models, respectively. Different extended generalized linear models that allow for overdispersion may be used to analyze this type of

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Gauss-Hermite quadrature approximation for estimation in generalised linear mixed models

open access: yes, 2003
This paper provides a unified algorithm to explicitly calculate the maximum likelihood estimates of parameters in a general setting of generalised linear mixed models (GLMMs) in terms of Gauss-Hermite quadration approximation.

ABOUT THE BEST LINEAR UNBIASED PREDICTOR (BLUP) AND ASSOCIATED RESTRICTIONS SOBRE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN DEL MEJOR PREDICTOR LINEAL INSESGADO (BLUP) Y RESTRICCIONES ASOCIADAS

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Estadística, 2007
The mixed linear model is characterized using the classic linear model of Gauss-Markov. The multipliers of Lagrange are a tool to obtain the best lineal predictors (BLUP), we shown the results of Searle (1997), where some sums of the best linear unbiased

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
