Dietary oxidized fatty acids: an atherogenic risk?

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2000
Previous studies have suggested that heated fat that contains oxidized fatty acids in the diet might contribute to the presence of oxidized components in circulating lipoproteins.

Therapeutic Applications of Stimuli‐Based Release and Engineering of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the effects of endogenous and exogenous stimuli, their effects on the natural release of extracellular vesicles, as well as their uptake and release. It also gives an overview of stimuli‐responsive EVs and their therapeutic applications. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), nano‐ to microsized lipid bilayer membrane‐bound particles, are

Incorporation of Novel Synthetic Glycolipids in Liposomal Nanoparticles Affects Opsonization and In Vivo Clearance

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
We prepared five glycosylated liposomal nanoparticles (G‐LNPs) to investigate the role of glycosylation and protein corona in modulating the in vivo behavior of G‐LNPs. We show that IgG and complement C3 adsorption enhanced liposomal nanoparticle clearance, with IgG promoting subsequent C3 binding.

Compositional Characterization, Quality Parameters, and Physicochemical and Bioactive Properties of Pequi (Caryocar brasiliense) Oils From Xingu and Cerrado in Mato Grosso, Brazil

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
Cerrado oil is richer in MUFA and antioxidant compounds, while Xingu oil shows higher SFA and enhanced oxidative stability, reinforcing the potential of pequi oil as a sustainable bioactive ingredient. ABSTRACT Pequi (Caryocar brasiliense) is a native fruit widely distributed in Brazilian biomes, specially in Cerrado, known for its high oil yield and ...

Isomerization increases the postprandial oxidation of linoleic acid but not α-linolenic acid in men

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2001
Human lipid intake contains various amounts of trans fatty acids. Refined vegetable and frying oils, rich in linoleic acid and/or α-linolenic acid, are the main dietary sources of trans-18:2 and trans-18:3 fatty acids. The aim of the present study was to

Discrimination of Lipid Hydroperoxide Positional Isomers Using SFC–MS/MS With Sodium Ion: Its Application to Evaluating the Oxidation Mechanisms of Oxidized Oils

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Advanced lipid profiling relies on liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS), but long analysis times remain a challenge. Supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC)–MS/MS using supercritical carbon dioxide offers a faster and more environmentally friendly alternative.

Possible involvement of proteolytic degradation of tyrosinase in the regulatory effect of fatty acids on melanogenesis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1999
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanism of fatty acid-induced regulation of melanogenesis. An apparent regulatory effect on melanogenesis was observed when cultured B16F10 melanoma cells were incubated with fatty acids, i.e., linoleic ...
