Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Accumulation of lipid in rib cuts from bull and heifer carcasses of two breeds

open access: yes, 1981
A trial is reported comparing the accumulation of lipid in rib cuts from 12 bull and 12 heifer carcasses from two breed types: Hereford (HE) and Dairy Synthetic (DY).

The role of systemically perturbed PTEN and PKBß/AKT2 signaling in accumulation of hepatic lipids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a major health problem and occurs frequently in the context of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D).

Hepatic lipid accumulation induced by a high-fat diet is regulated by Nrf2 through multiple pathways

open access: yes, 2022
Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is reportedly involved in hepatic lipid metabolism, but the results are contradictory, and the underlying mechanism remains unclear.

Oral Prevotella induces fat taste impairment, visceral lipid accumulation and insulin resistance by downregulating Hedgehog signaling in taste buds

open access: yesJournal of Oral Microbiology
Background Fat taste impairment has been implicated in visceral lipid accumulation and insulin resistance, with emerging evidence linking it to the oral microbiota.

Parkin deficiency prevents chronic ethanol-induced hepatic lipid accumulation through β-catenin accumulation

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2019
Background Alcohol abuse and alcoholism lead to alcohol liver disease such as alcoholic fatty liver. Parkin is a component of the multiprotein E3 ubiquitin ligase complex and is associated with hepatic lipid accumulation.

Sulforaphane ameliorates bisphenol A-induced hepatic lipid accumulation by inhibiting endoplasmic reticulum stress

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in bisphenol A (BPA) – induced hepatic lipid accumulation as well as the protective effects of Sulforaphane (SFN) in this process.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Growth kinetics and lipid accumulation in Rhodosporidium toruloides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The current interest in oleaginous yeasts as a viable source for microbial oil production has led to increasing research in understanding the growth conditions and kinetics of oleaginous yeasts with the aim to optimise productivity. Microbial oils can be
