Lamellar and hexagonal lipid structures are of particular importance in the biological processes such as membrane fusion and budding. Atomistic simulations of formation of these phases and transitions between them are computationally prohibitive, hence ...

This review systematically examines the nanomechanical mechanisms of mussel‐inspired molecular interactions, primarily investigated by direct force measurement techniques such as surface forces apparatus and atomic force microscopy. The macroscopic adhesive and self‐healing performances of mussel‐inspired functional materials, including coacervates ...

Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

Phospho-lipid bilayer nanodiscs have gathered much scientific interest as a stable and tunable membrane mimetic for the study of membrane proteins. Until recently the size of the nanodiscs that could be produced was limited to ~ 16 nm. Recent advances in

This study develops a multifunctional CRISPR‐dCas9‐based OMV platform termed OMV‐C9I12, which facilitates the coexpression of CXCL9 and IL‐12 within tumor cells. This platform enhances T cell recruitment and activation, synergizes with anti‐PD‐1/PD‐L1 immunotherapy, and amplifies antitumor T cell immunity.

Simulation studies of stratum corneum lipid mixtures [PDF]
We present atomistic molecular dynamics results for fully hydrated bilayers composed of ceramide NS-24:0, free fatty acid 24:0 and cholesterol, to address the effect of the different components in the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of skin) lipid matrix on its structural properties.

A Photonastic Prototissue Capable of Photo‐Mechano‐Chemical Transduction
Mimicking energy transduction in prototissue assemblies remains a challenge of bottom‐up synthetic biology. In this work, prototissues integrating protocells with photothermal gold nanoparticle proto‐organelles and a thermoresponsive polymeric proto‐cortex are developed.

Structural basis of Ca2+-dependent activation and lipid transport by a TMEM16 scramblase
The lipid distribution of plasma membranes of eukaryotic cells is asymmetric and phospholipid scramblases disrupt this asymmetry by mediating the rapid, nonselective transport of lipids down their concentration gradients.

Anomalous diffusion of phospholipids and cholesterols in a lipid bilayer and its origins [PDF]
Combining extensive molecular dynamics simulations of lipid bilayer systems of varying chemical composition with single-trajectory analyses we systematically elucidate the stochastic nature of the lipid motion. We observe subdiffusion over more than four orders of magnitude in time, clearly stretching into the sub-microsecond domain.
