ORP5 localizes to ER–lipid droplet contacts and regulates the level of PI(4)P on lipid droplets
Lipid droplets (LDs) are important organelles for cell metabolism. Here, Du et al. show that phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate produced by PI4K2A can exist on LDs and is used/consumed by ORP5, which localizes to ER–LD contacts during the growth of LDs.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Cellular aspects of ethanol-induced fatty liver: a correlated ultrastructural and chemical study
Fatty liver induced by acute intoxication was studied chemically, histologically, and electron microscopically in rats. Six hours after administration of ethanol and corn oil, hepatic lipids (mainly triglycerides) had increased by 32%.

Lipid Droplets in Cancer: Guardians of Fat in a Stressful World
Cancer cells possess remarkable abilities to adapt to adverse environmental conditions. Their survival during severe nutrient and oxidative stress depends on their capacity to acquire extracellular lipids and the plasticity of their mechanisms for ...

This work presents self‐propelled CRISPR/Cas9‐functionalized Au–MRs for rapid, amplification‐free, “on‐the‐fly” DNA detection. By harnessing motion‐assisted signal recovery, the platform achieved the limit of detection in low fM DNA concentrations, enabling detection across a wide dynamic range within only 5 min, which is significantly faster than any ...

Lipid droplet detection in histopathological images using reinforcement learning
The identification and analysis of lipid droplets in pathological images are pivotal owing to the variations in their size, shading and shape. The development of an artificial intelligence-based automatic detection method can facilitate the analysis of ...

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.
