Mast cells as the strength of the inflammatory process

open access: yesPolish Journal of Pathology, 2017
The inflammatory process is a complex host defence mechanism aimed at the elimination of deleterious factors disturbing homeostasis. Inflammation consists of several interdependent stages controlled by a wide range of mediators. Those include acute phase

Lipids and Lipid-Mediated Signaling in Plant–Pathogen Interactions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences
Plant lipids are essential cell constituents with many structural, storage, signaling, and defensive functions. During plant–pathogen interactions, lipids play parts in both the preexisting passive defense mechanisms and the pathogen-induced immune responses at the local and systemic levels.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Plasma C16-Cer levels are increased in patients with preterm labor

open access: yes, 2016
The pathogenesis of preterm labor is fragmentarily explained. The most widely accepted theory points out to infection and inflammation as possible causes, which can be mediated by potentially different factors, including sphingolipid mediators ...

Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Derived Lipid Mediators and Their Application in Drug Discovery.

open access: yes, 2020
Omega-3 (n-3) and omega-6 (n-6) polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) play crucial and often opposing regulatory roles in health and in pathological conditions.

Arachidonic Acid Derived Lipid Mediators Influence Kaposi’s Sarcoma-Associated Herpesvirus Infection and Pathogenesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) infection, particularly latent infection is often associated with inflammation. The arachidonic acid pathway, the home of several inflammation and resolution associated lipid mediators, is widely altered ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Targeting lipid mediators in asthma : time for reappraisal

open access: yes, 2019
PURPOSE OF REVIEW: In the past decades, cysteinyl leukotrienes (CysLTs) and prostaglandin D2 have been recognized as key mediators of asthma and comorbid conditions for their potent broncho-active and proinflammatory properties.

Air pollution and Alzheimer disease phenotype deplete esterified proresolving lipid mediator reserves in the brain

open access: yesJCI Insight
BACKGROUND Traffic-related air pollution (TRAP) is a risk factor for Alzheimer disease (AD), where unresolved brain inflammation has been linked to deficits in the levels of free lipid mediators that enable the resolution of inflammation.

In regards to lipoxins as lipid mediators for the resolution of inflammation using the example of asthma

open access: yesActa Biomedica Scientifica
Asthma is the most important medical and social problem of our time due to its widespread prevalence, chronic course and heterogeneity, which determines the complexity of  treating this disease.
